Selling software I created..?

Hi,

Because i've sold a few blogposts on my blog because I really needed the money at that time google decided to blacklist my site and turned it in to a pr0.

I deserved that, no doubt about it but now I lose some income so i decided to sell some of my software to people but I don't know how to market it.

My software used to be open source (well.. it still is..) but i'm planning to make a seperate version that has more functions than the one I give out for free.

Does anyone know how to sell software the right way? (copyright, licenses etc..)

 

You should check regnow and their websites, you will also find a good distribution network for the free version of you app.

One of the most important things you should do is encrypt it and also make sure it cannot be hacked so that people can freely get it or distribute it. So in other words, you could make it only work for just the one computer.

Although i've always been creating free software i could use the extra money for the upcoming holidays. I've had a few people that were interested in donating/sponsering me to continue my projects but I was thinking to develop a seperate package with more functionality than the free versions i offer.

 

Well ... try setting up a nice website for them, with screenshots, manuals, etc. and start promoting it (AdWords, etc).

Thanks for all your replies. I've had a few interested parties in my software and we were discussing about the terms and contract.

If all goes well i'll have a partner that sells my software. =)

I have another idea for you .. you can just sell it to one person that makes sales of course of good price .. and you just do the programming.

 

Indeed, good point. I'll look for a partnership with someone that is willing to sell my software for a profit.
