Hi. I just gota ask around since im a little new on the proxy area and set one up last month. ive looked around and seen people showin their traffic for proxypages where maybe the unique views where areound 700-800 with 45-50K hits per month... i was just looking on my own stats for my single proxy page and noticed that now the first 15days of this month is almost what it was the entire last month and will prolly be over the double of last months resaults, so im wondering is this a bad or a good thing that hits/pages are that high and unique views are around 1000 each month ?
not really sure, I started my proxy December 4th, and 10 days later I already have 1311 uniques this month. Only promotion I've done was submit to ~100 topsites, and stumbled it. 50% of the traffic is type-ins 30% of the traffic is search (about 90% of it was from stumble, the rest from google) 20% of the traffic is from topsites My traffic has been increasing every day, without me touching it what so ever (yesterday was 331 uniques). (topsites/stumble done Dec 4, and nothing since). I suggest you get it stumbled if you havnt already, and also submit to topsites (the more topsites, the more visitors, and the higher you rank on the topsites). Btw, what script do you use? I only have 1.6GB bandwidth used with phproxy. Where are the majority of your visitors? because ~600 pages per visitor is pretty high i believe.
i use Zelune and the majority is from the US, under that comes finland, china, colombia etc. also, stumbeling and topsite adding is ongoing! was just wondering over these wierd stats if it was good or bad! googlebot is eating it also Googlebot visits: 11749 bandwith: 1.21 GB lastvisit: 15 Dec 2007 - 01:54
not sure how to prevent it on zelune, but not preventing it would allow people to link to images or something using your site. Ie: site.com/image.gif They would use: yoursite.com/?__new_url=c2l0ZS5jb20vaW1hZ2UuZ2lm preventing hotlinking would mean the people have to go to your site and enter the url of the image to see it.
i just changed to php proxy, nnow i just need to find a hotlink protection as the built in one in php proxy is 99% like everyone say... anyone know of a good hotlink protection for phpproxy? :/
Server-side statistics don't work well for proxies and show inaccurate data. Get Google Analytics if your not using that already. The glype proxy script has built in hotlink protection and it works all the time. I think you could find a modification somewhere for PHProxy, but I'd just switch to glype.
just one question, If you submit 100 top sites how you keep their reciprocal links? putting 100 links on home page?
hmm noone really answered my main question yet. other then bandwith rape, is this "good" or "bad" as it is now? 1000uniques but over 1.000.000 hits/pages per month ?
Yup, That's really bad. Someone is trying to use your proxy a bunch. Look at the top 5 I.p users and bann them. That should fix the issue.
