You might think just the opposite, but if you actually take some time to research it and think about it you'll find that it's true. Farmers can make more money cutting down and selling you their pine trees than they can in hardwood. Do some research and then come and make an intelligent post in this thread trying to refute this argument please. Or, better yet don't cut down and buy a Christmas tree this year and you'll be doing your part to help save the environment.
We get an artificial tree, always have and probably always will. We've found that real trees are too messy and a lot more expensive. Not that people complaining about global warming would stop me getting one anyway. Seasons Greetings, Dave
Just because something is a tradition is no reason to continue doing it if it's found to do no good. Oh please, don't get me started about artificial trees - they are just as bad if not worse.
Do you refer to them as bad due to their effect on the environment or lack of tradition? Either way, I don't really care. If it's cheaper and tidier, I want it! Seasons Greetings, Dave
Wake up and smell the coffee! Now i'm not a 'green' freak but yes global warming is added to by us. As for Christmas tree's buy one with the roots still on, keep it watered over christmas and then replant it somewhere. If you've got a fake tree keep it! They last for years anyway but they're not bio degradeable are they! Christmas biz idea! Sell trees with roots on and offer a free replanting service! You get to sell the trees again the following year! Now if only I owned some land.... As it is I dont even own the roof over my head!
I really doubt cutting a tree down for christmas will have much affect on global warming. How many millions of tree's are burnt down every year, or cut down in deforestation ? The fact the the OP said not to reply unless you have something smart to say just shows that he/she is a troll just trying to get an argument started. We haven't had a real tree in a few years, but if we get one next year, I sure won't be worrying about global warming. btw.. I seen the same news or dateline special you prolly did about "how bad" cutting down an xmas tree is. Wasn't just on like last week !!...lmao
Here's another thought. If these trees were left in the ground to grow big and tall, they would absorb much more CO2 than a bunch of small trees that keep getting cut down. The earth is rapidly losing plants and trees in the Amazon and all over the world. The least that we can do here in affluent parts of the country is not contribute to the problem and save trees rather than cut them down for our own luxurious pagan Christmas celebration. Sadly, I don't think there's any hope. I don't think people will think of anyone other than themselves and their own little worlds. This earth does not have long before a huge man made disaster will wipe us all away. Better get right with your maker before it's too late.
Pretty sure that the articial ones do more damage than the natural ones, but that's just my opinion =) Anyways, the people that grow christmas trees (in my area, semi-rural) only do it because they once had a large field that wasn't being put to use. In this scenario, the christmas trees are absorbing more CO2 then the weeds that would take up the space where the trees now stand. A few go unsold and eventually turn into large trees which are typically just left there and eventually when the business stops, they will simply allow the trees to grow to full size. Thus, a forest has been planted in the place of an empty field.
than you should watch Planet Earth...it's happenin...like it or not...we are losing so many animals...that movie/documentry moved me
Well I don't think we have ever used a real tree - we have used the same artificial tree every year top my knowledge
Buying a Christmas tree and then using the wood afterwards I feel does not harm the environment. I usually use the wood as fire wood (lasts for a good while too) as I have an open fireplace. This is why I will always stick to buying a real tree, I don't think i'm harming the environment by doing so as I am re-using it after. Also the fact that pine trees that are sold for Christmas are specificly grown for Christmas, so no doubt they will plant more trees anyway.
whatever man! you, real tree: bad; fake tree: worse me: get a haircut hippie!! real, fake, who gives a flying dutchman! here's one thing I do know, I will not be worshipping Satan this Christmas like you want us too
Don't use your car, motocycle or other internal combustion engine and you'll be helping the planet a lot more.
Why can't people have their own opinions? That's my opinion, okay? I wasn't denying that fact. BUT! The ones who need a punishment are poachers who kill animals for their fur and all those 'big boys' who pollute the water!
