Look at the numbers I posted earlier - I see they are now cutting the earlier figures by almost a factor of three, but they are still 25 times more expensive than prime time radio in per second costs, and radio has verifiable auditing of listeners, and what sort of message can you get across in 5 seconds? Could you even read a standard AdSense ad out loud and intelligible in less than 5 seconds?

Since they already are in business, can anyone find out how much they charge at the moment to advertisers?

I like the idea, especially with higher traffic sites but I don't want to run ads for over a month before the paid advertising even starts. I will watch it and sign up possibly right before they launch or even after so.

I believe that they won't be running ads prior to the launch. When they first ask us to embed the codes, they will use them to gather statistics on "reach" that will help them sell ads to their advertising partners. They won't serve actual audios until the real launch. At least that's how I interpret what they've posted so far.

One advantage of signing up now is that you can refer others and make override commissions on their traffic. They imply that they're going to withdraw that privilege when they close "charter member" signups, presumably around launch time.

A sales page makes it look rather...spammy...

Every other half-decent advertising network has a professional website rather than a sales page.

Good thought! I tried it and found that yes, you can. It's exactly the right duration for that much information.
They aren't serving any ads yet, but are apparently in negotiations with numerous large buyers of online advertising. You'd probably have to be an insider at one of those companies to get the scoop.

You and I both know that the marketplace will ultimately determine whether or not they can command the rates they're projecting. To speculate in advance is just that: speculation.

But since it's free to use the service and free to try it out on some of my less important sites (okay, some of my junkier sites:)), I don't see any compelling reason not to try it.

They won't be holding the bids until Feb, 08.

I like the idea (if they are really paying that much), but I'm still hesitant to put audio on my site.

i'll keep an eye on this...i find pretty funny the expression "sounds good" in this context, but i don't trust any site that requires my phone number...

but i use yahoo launch to listen music, and they used to have those ads that you couldn't skip and you just had to hear, but the "product" (radio) woth it. Probabily if you have great content, people won't mind. Now if you have a crappy site, and plus, you want to literally make visitors to swallow your ads, you might lose any visitor forever...

i guess we'll have to wait and see...

The PPP guy (or guys, not sure if it's being run by more than one person) came up with a better landing page for their network, with a video explaining the program. Here's an example.

    http://www.sellingppp.com

It seems like a really cool idea. As long as the audio ads don't become really obnoxious, I think it'll be successful. The idea of being paid for EVERY visitor to your site, whereas they don't have to click a link for you to make money, is rather appealing.

Sorry, no, that still looks rather spammy (although professional scammy...) and having Google Ads on the embedded video seems just rather odd to me!

Oh, and I'd recommend you delete your AFF link from your post, ennergi.

If it works as it's described, I think it would be very profitable. I don't see why anyone would pass this up. If it fails, it fails, you lose nothing. If it succeeds, however, you could make some really good money by starting a referral campaign early.

I would have, but I'm not sure how to post a link with a referral ID, without showing the ID?

It's allowed in your sig but not in the body of the post.

In the case of this thread, which I started, I'd say it's rather rude of you to try snagging the referrals.:D

I will better wait and see how does this go before signing up. Many people surfing the web dont like keeping the speaker on so I dont think it is going to be any good for them.

I am not 100% on this but I will try it out and see how it goes. Why not? I will just put it on low traffic sites for now and track how it does from there and make the final decision later on.

There's a very interesting thread about this over at the Warrior Forum. Here's an excerpt from a post there by Charles Heflin, of SEO20/20, who's heading up the affiliate promotions for the new service:

I'm not sure how long they'll be offering the free charter memberships that allow you to make money two tiers deep on your referrals. The link in my sig will get you right in.:D
