was unsure about putting this in general business or content management, but since it has to do with help in also creating such a website gallery business i put it here. move if needed..

now thats done. i want to create a gallery site for a particular subject. i like joomla and have been looking at gallery2 and simple image gallery. i can use wordpress also if needed , haven't had much experience in that cms. was wondering what is my best solution. i plan to have viewers upload photos and share them on the website. now this question goes out to the others of gallery websites. how much do you usually make off these sites? i know it depends on how many visitors and such and the niche. my niche has a lil over 2000 searches a month for * pictures, and a google page count of 1760 (edit: actually used a different program instead of nicheinspector and check google. actual number is lil over 48k so maybe not that much of a lil niche.) and according to a lil research no google ads i think. so with a little adwords campaign i should be good to go. main keyword * has over 36k searches a month with about 750k page count. so i think i found a lil niche with * pictures. mind you this will be my first time attempting something like this. i would like to make some decent money but not expecting to be rich by tomorrow. time will tell.

so if anyone could help me with some information has to create a successful gallery site and create a decent income from it. thank you. if anyone wants to partner up with me also. let me know. thanks.

are you wanting people to be able to upload the images and then share them on their site, or upload them and share them on your site? Basically is it going to be an image host, or more like an image forum where people can talk and share?

not an image host. although that is another venture i will want to go into but more like a place to go where they can view pictures of a certain subject and upload pictures of there own pertaining to this subject and allow other viewers to see. on MY site. where other users can comment on the pictures and such. not much of a forum based tho. more like a really big gallery of pictures where people can share, comment, and have options to link to their site if wanted. hope i explained myself a little better. thanks for the reply.

ive used joomla a lot recently but not any gallery components yet, but this is probably the easiest way forward for you. forget wordpress.
Im just building a site that happens to have a gallery in it (that i dont really need!), from an asp.net 2 starter kit, if you have some skills there than thats another way forward.
I can certainly help you get going if needed, whether with joomla or .net - but i need to know more about what you would be doing, i would be doing, what the business plan is, etc.

well thank you all for helping. ive been looking at h**p://www.scoobyphotos.com/ and like the look and feel of this site along with the features. my site is not about subaru but i want the same concept as this site. maybe this will clear things up a bit. so if anyone could help in creating a site very similar to this that would be helpful. btw my site is not about cars. lol. but i want all the same concept of the site. i would make it a lil wider and show a bit more pictures tho

I've been trying the same thing for the past two years - I've written all the code myself but I think that it can be done a lot better. Good luck - I encourage competition ;)

Well I don't think I'd call it a success but it's profitable. The ad clicks are basically paying for the hosting plus a bit more... but not much!

Traffic is around 2.5k uniques per day. Each user averages 5 page views.

    Cheers, p.
