Does anyone actually us adsense.com? I know I do, but most people I talk to don't. Same for Google Analytics (google-analytics.com) and Paypal (x.com).

Just wondering if anyone uses these.

I go to AdSense.com... It used to not be owned by Google.

    http://www.adsense2.com

    Those guys had it first.

Google stole their business name "adsense" and then stole their domain. So much for google's motto "Do no evil".

It was a pretty big issue. "Do No Evil" was constantly used :).

The should of trademarked it then google wouldn't of been able to take it away. hmm
Says since 1995 (if thats true) that is way before Adsense as we know it even existed.

Sounded like they have first use of the name. If it's a registered company name, i think they have rights over it...

Anyway, i think Google is big enough to pretty much do what they want...nobody can touch them.

I guess no choice for the original Adsense owner, I mean the cost of legal fees can be huge for ordinary guys but peanuts for Google, it is safer to give it to Google and save the costs.

If those guys were really rich, then they'd do something about it. Other than that, who cares.

People who do not turn a blind eye to Google's hypocrisy ;) If people didn't care, then it would not have been a big issue or mentioned some time ago
How would you like some large company to steal the name of your business without compensation?

Actually, you can see this from adsense2.com:

If you have issues with Google, please contact Google who has taken and used our business name without permission or compensation.

Since google has the domain adsense.com now, and nobody said anything anywhere, I am guessing they settled it for some sum. I would love to know for how much!

If you have issues with Google, please contact Google who has taken and used our business name without permission or compensation.

    Compensation:

something (such as money) given or received as payment or reparation (as for a service or loss or injury)

I don't think they got any money. I too thought they might have received some sort of payment from Google, but I don't think they did.

for the interviews from the current owner, it seems they did get some money for the domain, but it doesn't seem to be much:
    http://www.jensense.com/archives/2006/07/owners_of_adsen.html
quote: Interesting, though, she claims she sold the domain for a price that "covers expenses incurred from having to replace things like company stationery, brochures and business cards".

I know I would have sold that domain for a lot more than "stationery, brochures and business cards" !!

The company that owned adsense.com, a small marketing company in Oregon, sold the domain in 2005. When AdSense first launched, they were receiving hundreds of calls and thousands of emails a day.

Here is a link to the store posted on Wired:

I remember this. It was straight up a dumb move on adsense (the little company) part. They didn't like getting phone calls and e-mails so they sold the domain for cheap to some guy, who in turn sold it to google making a big profit. Silly little company.
