Banned On PayPal 3 Years Ago - Safe To Reregister

    I was banned about 3 years ago for selling counterfeit purses on eBay, they banned me from PayPal too...I was stupid and have learned from my mistakes and would really like to use PayPal honestly now...how long to you think the bans apply? Anyone had a similiar experience?

    It should be a life-time thing. It's similar to getting a life-time prison sentence. You could learn from your mistakes 20-years later, but you'll still be there forever.

    Of course someone will reply later telling you to use false info and a VCC but that can be a mistake also.

    I agree, I think it is a for life thing. However, if all of your information has changed such as address, bank account, and credit card, you may get a way with. If not, write them and tell them you learned from your mistake and see if they will give you another chance.

    How about emailing them honestly tell them that happen 3 years ago. You have changed your ways and want to apply again. I think this is better than taking your chance or applying with a different name which may or may not be legit.

    I don't think so that they consider this way as you suggest. As getjimmy says you can try to open account with different name.

    I think there is something called forgive and forget. One wrong does not make a person wrong for the rest of his life. As a big corporation, I think Paypal shouldn't be that bad as to label one person forever. Worth a try rather than put under a different name which may have complications later on.

    Unfortuantely I think everyone is right - it is a lifetime which is not right ... things stay on your credit report for 7 years, bankruptcy is on your record for 10 years, but mess with eBay, and that stays with you for life? So if a kid sells merchandise he/she is not supposed to when 18 years old, they can't sell on eBay when they are 40? It does not sound right to me, but none of us call the shots. If we wanted new rules, we should make a new eBay. :p

    I think it's a lifetime ban too. Giving false info could be dangerous. If PayPal discovers the truth, they could close your account and keep any money you had in the account.

    Why not open a legit business? Get a business license, EIN, and open a business checking account. Sign up with PayPal and eBay with your business information.

    How did you get banned?
    Do you mean Limited Account Access? I have really never heard of "banned from PayPal"
    If you got limited then 3 years is passed their 180 day account limitation system. So just call them and get them to close your old account and you can open a new one :)

    It may not sound right to you about the lifetime part but unlike your credit history being standard in everyday life, eBay is more of a privilege.
