Question About Linking Format

    In short: When you create your backlinks, is it neccesary that you link to your webisite in the http://wwww.somewebsite.com format or is it enough if you use:

    www.somewebsite.com or somewebsite.com

    I'm asking because I went and got a lot of links once for one of my websites www.RevealtheEssence.com

    and when I did a check with SEO Open's firefox extension it was basically showing no backlinks. But if you just google www.revealtheessence.com you see plenty of of websites linking in.

    So is this just a problem with what SEO Open considers a good link or does google not like the www.Somewebsite.com type of links either.

    (I'm talking about when you have anchor text that is your keyword and you're putting in the address of the website to embed into that anchor text

    I suggest to use the full url format for safe purposes. It is considered as different site when you use only somewebsite.com.

    It's not as important as it used to be. Now you can set a preferred domain in GWT.
