Damn! What the heck happening? Proxy hosting is becoming free hosting these days. A few months ago proxy hosting was the costly hosting service in the market, now its becoming damn cheap. As proxy hosting isn't the same like others, most of the cheap providers (99% + ) are dieing in one or two weeks. Though they are ruining the business of real shared proxy hosting providers with their rate. If you check the "Web Hosting" section of Digitalpoint you will be surprised to know the current condition of Proxy Hosting. Some people are now offering Free Proxy Hosting to compete with the price like 1-2$ Per Month Hosting. These are really ruining the market by providing such service and performance these days at so cheap price. Its really bad happening.
its called tagging onto a niche, dont think for one minute they are not making something out of this.
They are making the plans so much cheaper like 2$ per month, and when you use paypal, paypal will take 50 cents for 2$ transaction (If its Business PP), so you get 1.5$ certainly (Yeah, they are making some ), but as its proxy sites, he will certainly get overloaded with like 20-25 proxies, and you can easily calculate, how much money he can make from 20-25 proxies, around 37.5$, even if he oversells, he has to struggle hard to raise 100$ per month. So why they are ruining the market when there are loads of potential of some experienced hosting providers to provide quality service at a reasonable rate?
I am in the Proxy Hosting Business and I know what you are talking about. These guys just go out, rent a cheap server and start offering unlimited everything. In a week or two they are out of business. There are absolutely no way you can make up your costs with $2 or $3 a month. With $5 you might be covering the cost of bandwidth and equipment but not of support and all the trouble proxies cause (spam etc). The reality is that you one person with a single server can't possibly offer quality proxy hosting with $2 a month package AND make a profit on top. Unfortunately people fall for low prices despite all the warnings they get from fellow forum members. Eventually if they want to get into proxies they need to get some quality hosting, but they have already ruined the market as you said We are offering Shared/VPS/Dedicated and I am thinking of dropping Shared all together and focusing on VPS and Dedicated
Well, your observations are correct. I have stuck to so called "costlier" plans but yes, I still have clients using my services and new ones joining every month. Every niche has a saturation point and there would always be intruders who want to ruin the scene. Just keep offering reliable services, promote well and quality proxy hosting providers will always be rewarded in the long run.
I dont think I would worry about it..... It sucks for the people buying it, but eventually they will find someone once they figure out the free ones dont work..... Most people dont just throw away thier site for nothing....
Yeah sure! You are gaining clients every month, and certainly there are clients are who are leaving you every month. I have just seen 5 domains has left cloakhost.com and joined oshq.com service this week What do you think about the reason? Hope you can understand
Well, yes, clients come and go but no need to panic when you still retain a good part of them and continue to add more. I can't control people drifting to other hosts...but lets hope for the best... Oh I see oshq uses litespeed (paid webserver; I hate that) and many people just move to stay cool LOL
We are already hoping for the best, but i just cant get whats the point of ruining some real business which could have more potentials
