AAAAAAAARGH They are harrasing me constantly on skype! I block one number that I google to see it's a collector, then they change their number! Now they finally figured out that I am blocking them so they started using an unknown number and calling every 20 minutes, and then started calling my dad's house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so mad. Isn't this harassment and how can I prove that they are using the unknown skype number? Thanks SolutionX
I guess they can track you trough the payment you did to skype. Sign up from another country like Thailand using a fake PayPal with a virutel credit card. As i said before you tell skype you are from Thailand you not have to pay tax
Thanks, cool tip... it's not the skype bill I can't pay though. They are major US credit card companies that hire private harassers. Edit: Ok, I see what you're saying, but I freely gave the credit cards the number when I bought a credit card. I'm not trying to scam them. I had a medical emergency and am trying to work my way out of it and it's hard to work when i'm getting calls every 20 min. And if you even talk to them about negotiating, you can't file for bankruptcy if things don't work out.
The laws have changed in the last couple years (I think). But I know now that if you try to negotiate with them you give up all your rights (indicates an ability to pay, even if you tell them you can only pay $1/month, you'll be paying that the rest of your life with the interest.). I think this was Bush's idea, and I always see commercials trying to get people to negotiate with their creditors. It's a big scam, and I'm sick of it. Just waiting to see how far they take this I guess. I know I have them beat, just can't listen to any advice... just block block block them out of your home and talk to a lawyer.
Thanks, I think that's good advice for most people, but my credit got screwed up when I went into an ER telling them I was about to have a seizure and they didn't believe me. Wasn't fun when I woke up. Sorry for posting about this disturbing stuff, just need to get it out of my system since i'm not planning to sue them. Hope you understand.
Why don't you talk with them when they call and let them know they are contacting you at your place of business and to cease and desist.... I think that's the proper term to get them to stop.
I think the best way for you is just declare bankrupt, they can't do anything against you after this.
Yeah, I'm afraid that's gonna be my only option. I'm just trying to bounce back first, but it's unclear right now if it will happen in time. All I was told was to ignore them until I know, then still ignore them after you file. One problem though is that I move around a lot now, and it's hard to keep them updated with my current address, and I need to talk to a lawyer about that to see if not being able to keep up with that will get me in trouble. Seems like all these complicated rules and regulations that keep changing all the time, only serve to crush the small business man who tries to break out of being small and become bigger. Plus taxes... can barely even keep up with all those regulations, then where does that leave you time to actually run your business? I spend more time worrying about whether I messed up on some tiny piece of paperwork that will end up biting me in the ass. I need a vacation lol. Christmas isn't my idea of a vacation either. Note: on the skype thing... I have the skype history of them calling every 20 min. I literally have to shut down my phone or it will ring and hang up every 20 min. I'm not hiding from them, but I just want them to leave a message instead, then if they are respectful and stop harrassing me, I would be glad to call them back and explain the problem. Common courtesy. But if they want to play dirty, it's probably going to cost them.
No worries. Bankruptcy, although a tough time, is a very liberating feeling when you are done. I just got out of a bankruptcy recently. Best thing I ever did. I can buy stuff now! If you are considering bankruptcy just know this one thing. You need to be in alot of debt to file bankruptcy, otherwise its not worth it. If its one credit card, try to enter into an arrangement to pay it off. I was nearly $100,000 in debt when I filed for bankruptcy. Now I'm totally debt free and I make plenty of cash on the internet just using tricks I learned from DP! I love this country, and I love this forum! Regards (ZangoCash master) Jason P
Before I worked in hi tech, I worked in debt collection - pick up the phone and make a deal - believe me, they will be willing to take any offer, or payment plan that you suggest. Part of my training was about helping the customer settle the debt - I know it sounds cliche, but at the end of the day, you'll feel much better if you settle.
Yes agreed with your point. Some months back I was in a similar situation with some credit cards debts and these guys started the harassment. Nwo all I did was explained to the them the situation I was in and they offered me a nice monthly plan and every thing was settled nicely, and It really feels great once every thing is settled So just speak with these guys and make them understand the situation. I am sure that there must be some way Out.
Sorry, don't see how I could feel better by letting them think they can just do this to anyone. If they had been respectful I'd probably listen for a minute, but I just keep thinking of all the other people that might be going through this and not really understand that it's not their fault. You ever looked into how many suicides have to do with people feeling trapped by debt? That's who I think of when they keep calling. It's funny how debtors think that they are moral and doing you a favor. Interesting what the Bible has to say about this. You can choose to wake up and tell them to kiss your ass. Doesn't have to be depressing, can be an adventure.
