Alternatives to AdSense?

Are there other PPC programs similar to or better than AdSense, that will display text links, like AdSense? If so, what would you recommend?

You have kontera bidvertiser chitika as options. WidgetBucks is also a good alternative but the ads are not text links.

Kontera is a nice alternative but it is in-text (double underlined link) and doesn't look like AdSense.

The link in my sig gives a $25 bonus incase you're interested.

I took adbrite off my sites that were using it because it was displaying total crap and not giving enough of a return. Some people like Linkworth, I find their system to be messy though. Widgetbucks replaced AdBrite on quite a few of my sites and is giving a much better result as far as clickthroughs.

I want to avoid clutter. I was thinking of Bidvertiser instead of Adsense, and possibly Kontera. For the 125x125 block ads, what would you guys suggest? Just a button with a referral link there, or something else?

Bidvertiser is good for sites that don't perform well enough with Adsense. 125x125 block ads, I'd try Adsense + Kontera.

Adbrite really is a hidden gem. Many people will tell you to steer clear of them but if you know how to use them they can be great. A few tips:
-Describe your site well, with a good list of keywords when adding it to the marketplace.
-Set ads to manual approve so you can only allow goos, high paying ads
    -Review your ad inventory daily.
-And give them time to fill your inventory.
    Hope this has helped ;)

What about ClickBank, Azoogle or InstaClick affiliate ads, or is it the consensus that you should stick with PPC ads for blogs and leave the affiliate stuff to landing pages?

I would try a combination of various PPC programs. I don't use Adsense but I do use ADLeaf. It doesn't make me any money because it is a free program but it allows me to have free advertising.

Great info everyone. I was recently banned from Adsense, they accused me clicking on my own ads to generate more profit. The funny thing about this is the fact that I was out of the country and not anywhere a computer, but I have read that this has happened to numerous other people as well.

Great to know that their are other options besides Adsense.

The newest Adsense alternative is called Pay Per Play(not sure if you would classify it as an alternative since it can be used with other methods including adsense). It is still in the pre-launch stage, so they are not releasing all the details yet(it's supposed to be aligned with another major search engine). But, they have some heavy-hitter advertisers lined up like Harley-Davidson, Taco Bell, HBO, and Burger King.
