Surprise George W Bush gives pardons to 29 and one reduced sentence http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/11/presidential.pardons.ap/index.html In the end of the year Presidential tradition But NO PARDON for Scooter Libby Comments :-
Libby lied...and his sentencing was appropriate. My question is why this is still a subject? Oh thats right, its against the Bush admin....
1. What is now called the Libby case should always have been referenced as the case where.... Joe Wilson, somebody in the know, who had direct access to intelligence, specifically debated the Bush administration with regard to its reasons for starting the war with Iraq. Wilson specifically addressed Bush administration's twisted version of intelligence with regard to what Saddam Hussein did or was doing. How did Wilson know? He was the source of the intelligence. After that, the entire issue got twisted around in so many ways primarily by the leaking of Wilson's wife who was a CIA operative, the hubbub about that issue and 100 different topics. The core issue was that the Bush administration lied about intelligence. Someone who supplied the intelligence publicly announced that. Then the Bush administration attacked this guy, his wife, and twisted the topic around in a great variety of ways. The 2nd core issue involved the administration's willingness to sacrifice the security and secrecy of an intelligence officer to ensure that its version of the story on why we went to war was not questioned. Of interest one way that the administration twisted it was to delay and hamper any investigation. Then and later, they and their defenders would ask rediculous questions like....why is this still an issue. The topic dragged on because of stonewalling within the administration. There are other interesting phenomena that are connected with this issue. First, it became obvious through the court case that the disinformation efforts by Bush administration people stemmed out of the Vice President's office. Over time it has become apparant that Vice President Cheney has placed himself above the law, above actions that come out of the Bush administration, and is accountable to noone. He has taken actions of this ilk repeatedly over the years. Most recently after the publication of the latest NIE report, there were attacks on its authorship as being partisan. These reports came after the report was forumulated months ago, after the Bush administration had the reports and the access and evaluations of intelligence re reviewed and after the Bush administration released declassified sections of the report to the public. Where did the attacks come from? One of the very first attacks of partisanship came from one of Cheney's former assistants. How telling!!!!!! Earlier this year Cheney's office argued against revealing information requested by Congress by saying that this office did not have to abide by the law since the VP was both within the administration and was a part of congress in that the VP could make tie breaking votes. That absurd argument was quickly shelved by the administration as being too absurd on face value. Nevertheless once again the VP put himself above the law and above all other actions or comments. Also this year after Senator Clinton, as a member of the Armed Forces Committee in the Senate requested certain information she was shut down by another Cheney lieutenant, now at the Pentagon, who claimed she had no right to the info. She immediately responded and Secretary of Defense Gates acknowledged she was correct and got her the information. Cheney later responded that his ally in the Pentagon was correct in his response. Each time Cheney acts in this case, he is allowed to go free and continue to pursue his unique agenda. It is an agenda for which he is never held accountable. It is an agenda which is dedicated to simply getting his way regardless of laws in effect. Frankly it defines the potentially illegal aspects of the Bush administration as it pursued its agenda. As we go forward with new elections one thing stands out to me. I don't see it hotly debated going forward in the primaries. I'm sure it will be a big issue for the public at large including the overwhelmingly large independant population. The willingness of an administration to break and change the character and nature of laws across the board in pursuit of its goals will and should be a hot issue in the upcoming general election. Over the past few months, even as news about Iraq has quieted and a reduction in the rate of Americans dying there has continued for some months, Bush's overall popularity within polls continues to hover around 30%, dramatically low numbers. The characteristics of the Bush administration will be hotly debated going forward. It is worthwhile to rereference some of the exploits and deeds of the administration as we approach a new election and need to choose new leaders.
BDS is alive and well. In the absence of anything else, just make it up! If it's about Bush, there is no accountability Actually, in a new Gallup poll I read today had Bush's approval rating at 37%. Much higher than the democrat Congress.
Very well said Nice post... That was a hilarious website man... And it reveals the real face of Bush administration...
So why has no one been charged with leaking the name of Valerie Plame? Will someone please answer that? Hint: Because her husband had already done it in the book he wrote and at various parties they were seen at together....
