My laptop is current on AC 24/7 with battery in it. I just found out the battery is half dead. It used to last 3 hours and now it last less than 1. The battery is less the one year old! It will cost me 100 buck to replace it. so do you take out the battery if you are going to plugin AC for long time?
Never realized that it will make any difference. But if removing the battery will extend it's life then I'll start doing it.
ahkip...facing the same problem as your Even, I'm quite curious to listen some good opinion on this issue.
When I run my laptop on ac, I have the battery on only to charge it. Batteries do deteriorate even if not used, though. I don't believe there is no memory effect at all with lithium batts, so I use it carefully and never if there's an alternative option, that is AC.
your battery already damage...the reason i think you didnt take out the battery when you are using the AC power....so, just buy a new one...
Everyone depending on the manufacturer and number of cells within the battry makes a big difference in the life of portable batteries. Whatever you do never, never by off branded batteries for your portable. Especially if your portable has a built in BHM (batteryhealth meter). Also remember that batteries are considered expendable items and usually have a limited 1 year warranty from date of manufacture. Some companies will give you a couple of months extra leeway but that only depends on if you have an extended warranty of some sort.
For a real mobile user i think it's inconvient, while most bussines people have an it department to handle these kind of defect, they probarly don't care. An enduser however migh be considering this, since the warranty on that particular part is only six months, even with an extended warranty for most vendors. The moment your Li-ion battery leaves the factory it already starts to loose some charges, this can't be stopped, but perhaps you can extend it a bit longer by removing it among other things. But wil you do this now, even with this knowledge, everydays question,at every moment and any given time, seems to be about making the wright choice. I'll better stop now ,gettin way toooo serious.
