A Solution to end "pm link pls"

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Correctus, Dec 12, 2007.

Please tell sellers (or make this a rule) to include a poll in their domain name/ebook/website sales thread.

For example if someone is selling a domain name and doesn't want to disclose its name then they could have a public poll:

    1. Please PM me Domain name and all details.
    2. Please add me on IM

So if a person decides to ask for the details they could simply vote in the poll, then their name will be in the list of people who have voted to receive the PM, the OP will go through the list and simply PM from there!

This would make life much better for people who want to read genuine discussion about the product and therefore will not have to wade through hundreds of "pm link pls" posts to find a review or sensible post.

PLEASE let me know if this suggestion is worthwhile, and also put in your suggestions on this suggestion.

    Thanks!

Yes, good idea! Another idea is like the th3zone.com forum I believe it is that has a Thank You section at the bottom - so you click thank you all the people that want to say thank you instead of posting it just click thankyou at it appears at the bottom of the post: People that thanked poster: brennan, correctus, etc. So we could have People that want a PM with more information, etc.

A custom vbulletin mod would be fine.

So users can click a button to "request response from seller" or something. Although i think this idea is far too radical in the shockingly slow world that DP develops in.

Yeah, I know that the administration of DP very rarely does install any new modifications. Therefore I thought up of this plan which would even work with the current options in place.

All that needs to be done is a new rule, several stickies and a guide.

DP doesn't even need a custom vb mod made... there's tons already out there for a "marketplace" system, with a small hack no url's would be posted and picked up by SE's.

i don't see it happening, but i like his idea better.
i think the poll idea is gay. :D (no offence)

just make a rule for url pm bumps.
it takes the same amount of energy to pm the seller then posting pm me. ;)

What I think should be done is to have a little tag under the post. Person would click on it, and the topic creator would get notified with an automatic message saying that xxx user wants details sent on your thread.

Why don't you guys understand the damn point!

DIGITALPOINT ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT INSTALL NEW MODS ANYMORE!

We got to find our way out of mess with the available options!

This can be as annoying as a whole thread asking for a free review copy, it really annoys me.

I can do you one better everyone start saying if you say "pm link pls" you get squat. Make them say they are interested in your offer and would like more information. That will end it in a heartbeat after you MAKE PEOPLE READ THE POST FIRST. Most people on here do not I have had threads where I have posted do not pm me post here with offers and still get pms.

You have successfully proved yourself worthy of being called "Mr. Ignorant"

Not going to change Anything? WTF? If they make a rule on this and that gets implemented with stickies. There is no reason people will not follow it. If people don't however, simply give them infractions.

    It most definitely could.

I was thinking the same thing. Has anyone seen the thank you mod? you click 'thank you' under someone's post and a list of all the people who have clicked, appears underneath. Modify that mod so it can be used for the first post in a thread on BST, and change it to PM list instead of thank you.
