Adsense on Forums

    Hello everyone,

Can Adsense ads generate income when placed on forums? I think we should resort to CPM ads, since CPC will probably be much less effective on forums. However, CPM do not generate much, right?

What is the average CPM earnings? I mean how much per 1000 impression?

Also would it be better if I sell ad space on forums? And can someone tell me how to rate ad space advertising ?

look at what digitalpoint has, and copy them. its pretty much perfect i think. the owner makes around 40k per month i think. anyway u can change around a bit but using this layout should be ok. and cpc can sometimes be good.

You cant copy Digitalpoint , it is a different class altogether, nonetheless, I feel Adsense is good for forums. Forums are normally active with surfers reading or posting, more activities means more traffic and higher chance of clicks

If you can get fresh visitors from SEs daily, you can make money.

regular members are unlikely to click ads.

Anyway, so can someone tell me what is the average earnings from CPM and what and how to rate the price of an ad space? I know these are general questions and things depend on the site niche and other factors, but you can give me examples

We don't know what the average CPM earnings are - but I'm sure shawn is earning from the CPC ads. You should learn to use other networks to.

Yes that's why I think CPM are better than CPC on forums. Still forums are more about subscribers who post every day or every other day (regular visitors, that is,) rather than unique users.

If you use Google on your forum then I suggest putting Adsense text links under the navigation menu, it worked for my forum.

The problem I found with CPM on forums is not many were willing to accept me.

Value Click allowed me to place their ads on my sites but said that I was not to place them on any forums and actually said something about not being able to fully control the content on a forum.

It totally depends on the topic of your forum, how well you place them, and how much traffic you get. I have several forums. On some, Adsense pays very well and on others it is pennies a day. If your forum topic is about meaningless chit-chat then you won't make anything. If it is on a topic that drives high dollars per click, like webhosting, cellphones, etc., then you will do well.

My suggestion is don't make it an "either, or" kind of thing... do a combination of stuff at the same time. I do Adsense. I do CPM. I do contextual. I do direct ads. Together they give you a diversified revenue stream that won't leave you quite as vulnerable if a campaign stops, or a market shift happens.

Thanks guys for all the help. The forums are about jobs and careers and the like. Not sure this is a high paying niche, but still I don't choose a niche based on its ads value. I think such niche might attract sponsors more. What do u think?
