Just like the title says, my site is in the top 10 in Yahoo and MSN for 4 very competitive keywords, all xx,xxx, xxx in competition, yet I am getting no more than xxx visitors to my site daily and hardly 1 sale a week. I am still working to achieve top 10 in google. Will the traffic come when I hit top 10 in google?
yeah, it happens...I actually got #1 for one of my niche keywords, and I only get a handful yahoo hits from it. If that same result were on google, I'd probably get around 200 according to a keyword research tool I use
the competition doesn't matter. the only thing that matters is how many people search for the term.... there are keywords will hundreds of millions of results on google, but 0 zero searches.... ranking for these keywords won't get you anything
According to digitalpoint Keyword suggestion tool (wordtracker), the keywords I rank in the top 10 for should be getting 30,000 searches a day.
i haven't used wordtracker, but it's impossible for you to be on the first page for a term searched 30,000 times a day in Yahoo. BTW, that's 9 mil a month... What keyword is searched 9 mil a month? that's crazy.
I meant to say that it is virtually impossible to rank top 10 for a keyword that is searched 30 K times a day and get no traffic.
How are you calculating competition? If you just type the keywords into Google, it's not accurate. You also need to put the keywords in quotes: "keyword keyword" After you check it with quotes then check it like this: allintitle:keyword keyword and: allintitle:"keyword keyword" Sometimes keywords that looks like they have xx,xxx, xxx competition really only have xxx competition.
Funny you should post that. One of my sites was like #20 on the second page. When it got on the first page traffic seemed to decrease. I don't know why.
From my experience 90% of traffic comes from google, If you optimised for google everything else will follow. For long time my site was on third and second page and I used to get 30 - 40 visitors per day. Since I got to first 5 for my keywords traffic jumped to 150 unique visitors per day. 15 from yahoo and other sources , rest from the giant
Google and other search engines aren't really easy to land on a specific keyword you're targeting. It takes some skill, patience, experience, etc.. I don't consider myself a pro but I'm definitely experienced in the SEO divison..lol Search volume for a keyword is obviously very important. I as well find it very weird and highly doubt the fact that you were on the first page for a term that is searched 9million times a month with no results. It's hard to target stuff, I run a few adult sites and for one of my sites (which btw I'm selling right now lol in Adult Sectoin) it gets 100k+ just from google a month. First page for many results. Traffic is ALWAYS coming, strange how you got none. Keep in mind that some keywords are obviously harder to land on the front page with than others. Not all keywords are valued equally. Regardless, keep trying and going at it and you'll land where you want!
it is not easy to rank well on Yahoo and all things you do is to followed the Yahoo algorithm that is based on on-page especially the content.
Dear friend why are you trying to compare your site with porn, romantic and nudity sites ??? Human naturally satisfaction is a most important work for someone he/she. About 80% visitors on internet surely visit these ugly sites for their fantacies satisfaction. I hope you will also visit many of these many times within a week. So each search engine like Yahoo, Google, Msn and most of others have to send traffic from visitor queries to these ones. There is no way to compete them. or if you have some site or sites that provide some really good facilities to users online freely , you will get more traffic than that ones. If you want some good tips about good traffic extraction you can contact me .i will be very happy to help anyone quite freely with no interest. Haider Ali
Try changing the title of your website. I know I once had a bad title, and I was number 7 for an important keyword, and I only received 10 visitors/day. And after I've changed the title of the page I was number 10, and I was getting around 50 visitors/day.
Its going to depend on what you're selling. Obviously if its a product/service that has high appeal then you will likely make more sales. It will depend on your competition too. Think about conversion and work backwards. Put yourself in the "searcher's" shoes, audit your site and test your site against your competitors...or against yourself. Do a "split-test". Have you ever seen a store on a high street with tonnes of traffic and people walking straight by? it always looks empty of customers? Remember, you still can be at the top of google and yahoo for various keywords and sell nothing or very little.
