Alexa ranking is useless. A high alexa ranking doesn't mean you have more traffic or you earn more money.

So many people have gamed alexa that its worthless now.

I say save your time and forget about optimizing your alexa rankings. Instead spend time on improving your status on a social marketing network.

Actually Alexa Ranking is useful for revenue for sites like TextLinkAds, ReviewMe, Adbrite etc.

 

Point Noted. Alexa ranking is a standard for comparison.

 

While many people feel Alexa ranking is useless, that does not change the fact that ADVERTISERS still consider it before making a decision. So long as the advertisers continue to use Alexa ranking in their decision making process, Alexa ranking is important.

While Alexa ranking isn't the biggest factor advertisers consider, if they are stuck deciding between two websites and one has a significantly better Alexa ranking, guess who gets picked.

Text-Link-Ads, which MANY people use to earn several hundred dollars a month is a perfect example. People browsing the directory are presented with page rank and alexa rank. If you are ranking good for both, you are going to make some good money.

Another thing to consider is the website niche. Alexa rank is discredited because it is extremely biased towards tech-savy websites, since this user base is SIGNIFICANTLY more likely to be running the Alexa Toolbar and thus getting boosted in ranking.

However, if you are an advertiser looking to advertise in this tech-niche, the Alexa ranking suddenly becomes quite valid for you as a means for ranking.

If you want to advertise pet supplies though, you wont find many animal websites with an Alexa ranking because the people checking those sites are probably not running the toolbar, and so Alexa ranking is useless to you.

So errr.... in summary, in some cases, Alexa ranking is still very important and valid and if you are ranked high, in the right-niche, and using advertising techniques where advertisers use this ranking in order to make their decision, then its an obvious conclusion that a higher ranking will make you more cash.

alexa ranking is just a good way to evaluate a site traffic with no need to contact the site owner.

that said, each time you want to check out a site, you go to alexa.com and you check it, it can give you a good picture on how that site, is performing, if you have competitors then that would help you out.

problem with these techniques is ur destroying integrity of alexa and then the system becomes flawed

No it only alters your Alexa, unless your focusing on link building etc which will then benefit your backlinks and potentially rankings in Google.

 

It already is flawed.

Alexa is junk. Period. No experienced internet marker gives a damn about it. You got traffic? You got revenue? Great - now how does Alexa make any difference whatsoever?
