Yeah when will we simply stop following the laws and agreements we as a nation have made?.. Brilliant logic you have there as usual I might add..
What you have to realize first is that this guy is a raving lunatic. Nothing he says is true, or even remotely plausible.. He says these things to exhibit a particular reaction.. It's funny to watch at times.. At other times, it is a bit disturbing if not down right disgusting.. As for the CIA tapes.. Whoopie.. What part of our government or any government for that matter has not had some type of "scandal".. That's all this is really.. My understanding was the tapes were destroyed to protect the identity of agents.. I seem to recall another "scandal" recently that involved an agents name being leaked.. What do you all want? Leak, or no leak? Who gives a shit? Seriously.. This, like every other scandal in politics is yet another crappy attempt by moonbats on cloud nine to try to further attack a president and administration that is already on the way out. Whoopie.. That is my opinion on the subject... I could really give a shit. So far the reaction it has garnered has been exciting the crap out of conspiracy theorists, and other screw ball moonbat troofers.. (British guy, I like the post.. This rant is not in any way directed at you.)
How would the identity be leaked if the tapes were reviewed by those with oversite of such issues in the first place? Those who would already know the names, or have clearance to.. That's pretty far out there, it's not like the tapes would be outed in public. Totally, totally different, so far out there I can't believe anyone would buy into that with all honesty.
Because it has happened before.. That is likely why they were destroyed. Personally I look at it this way.. This is the CIA.. Used to be the OSS prior to that, ie., Office of Strategic Services. My grandfather was in the OSS... The whole point of this agency was to spy, gather information, interorgate. Sometimes information has to be gathered with some interesting methods. It's done for the sake of national security and to save lives.. I don't care how that information is obtained if it means keeping us safe. That is the point.. There used to be a time in this country where we did things a certain way, again, in an effort to keep us safe.. If the CIA where anything like it was prior to Clinton, or like it is now, there would have been no 9/11. If water boarding the shit out of some terrorist is the only way to obtain information to keep thousands from dying, SO BE IT... I'm sure there are lots of things that go on behind the scenes that would no doubt make good press, happen all the time. It's the CIA's job to not only find information, but to protect that information, and those that got that information.. Let's let them do their damn jobs and move on.
Very true. We have no treaties with al qaida terrorists, nor are we under any obligation with them or terrorists who have no country and choose not to fight in uniform. It's amazing that it's always the same people that are so concerned over terrorists.
Yet the waterboarding was reported to bring false information False information can be more dangerous than 'real' information. The entire 'to protect' identity is further BS as modern tech makes the ability to distort their faces, voices in a heart beat. Trying to also claim 9/11 would have never happened is also out there, Bush sure didn't appear to take it seriously until it happened on his watch. This coming from someone who hated Clinton with a passion. I would love to blame Clinton and leave it at that, that however is purely foolish on the highest level.
The issue is not just the destruction of the tapes, it's that the tapes were not turned over to the 9/11 commission when requested. There was deliberate obstruction of justice. This is illegal and members of the senate are calling for Mukasey to launch a federal investigation into it. Btw, the tapes could have had the faces edited out. You can't tell me that the tapes were destroyed only to protect some agents, when the CIA likely has thousands of tapes and documents that would out agents.
I can say with 100% confidence that 9/11 would not have occurred if not for the actions of the Clinton Administration. They systematic dismantling of the CIA, our military intelligence, and passive response to several attacks on his watch. From the Cole bombing, to the WTC attacks, prior to 9/11, he did nothing. Hell, he had Osama handed to him, several times, and passed.. Saying Bush ignored warning signs is what is foolish... Less than 6 months into his presidency he is going to undo all the damage that Clinton did? After nearly 8 years, we have certainly made headway in that regard, and continue to do so, thank God... Aside from the economic disasters, I would say Clinton's foreign policy and lax, passive stance on terrorism are what will mark him as the Worst President in US history. Let's only pray we do not see these people return to do more damage.
I can say with 100% confidence that every President who supported Saddam, buddied up to the Saudis and built military bases on Muslim holy land, has some responsibility for 9/11
Mia I'm sorry but you're living in a dream world. Bush did NOTHING from everything I read against terrorism before 9/11 occurred. Bush could have had Binladen but let him escape. I'm sorry but your argument is nothing more than the far right, bash Clinton and we do no wrong mentality. Clinton the worst president? That's trully laughable. I hated Clinton, Bush however will go down as a far worse president, much, much worse than Clinton when all is said and done.
Usually the people concerned with terrorists aren't going to let those pesky laws and investigations get in there way. Criminal.
If the destruction of tapes when requested for investigation was OK, in other words when torture is ok when done on suspected enemies of US don't be surprised when others seek revenge for those abuses. I've heard of a case where not a terrorist, but an immigrant with no papers was held in jail, bare feet chained and held on cold cement with no bed to sleep on for days before being deported. The guy as a result of being held in the cold caught pneumonia and was refused medical help. All this happened in the most democratic country in the world US. Barbaric deeds like torture should be banned in US. If you support US don't support torture on anybody.
Waterboarding was last used in 2003 and has been prohibited. Some still make an issue out of it. Interrogation techniques and torture are two different entities. Though usually those that are against anything other than massaging the backs of terrorists never seem to have any outrage when people were beheaded, burned to death and dragged through streets, etc.
You're wrong here. Honest people get outraged when torture and terror are used on anybody. Torture and war supporters deeply believe their way is the only way. But the tests show they are wrong. See Bush's approval rating for example. And see the US standing in the world as well. If you really love America you may start crying when you see the big fall.
Hey GRIM, when is the next "Let's close Guantanamo" march? These terrorists should be given flowers and should be told not everyone in America supports Bush. THEN you will have peace. My oh my. Why didn't I think about it myself?
And now you have a peace? LMAO! Guantanamo made more terrorists than you will ever be able to put them there.
I think it's a masochistic woman that gives you more the more you beat her. I just hope America does NOT become a masochistic woman.
I think its a bit OTT to compare america to a weak woman lol. This is NOT about the treatment of terrorists, this is about the CIA feeling it has the right to commit crimes and then cover up the evidence.
