Opening RAR Files without Downloading Software

Discussion in 'Products & Tools' started by Masterful, Nov 10, 2007.

    Hi, Guys,

Anyone know of any websites/services which permit free RAR file decompressions? I only have a couple of RAR files and I don't really want to download software just to open them.

If not, can anyone recommend a simple, small and free RAR decompression application?

Or use 7zip, for a free open source application.

I don't know of any sites which will decompress your files for you.

I dont think you can use anything other than one of the tools already suggested, which of course requires the program on your computer.

Is there a reason that you dont want to?

I am thinking of a specific website that offered the compression and decompression of ZIP files online, but I can not remember if it works on RAR files.

I will go see if I can find the site again, it was quite some time ago though.

Other than that I do not believe that you will be able to decompress the RAR file without Winrar or other software that will work with RAR files.

Thanks, TheTrader! That's exactly what I was looking for. I haven't tried it yet, but if it works, it'll be great.

EdgarLimon, what are you exclaiming for? What's wrong with not wanting to download software just to open a file?

Sometimes you aren't sure if a file is safe. So you don't want to unzip or unrar it in your computer but would like to know what the file is. Perhaps there is an online program that can open the rar or zip just to see what it contains.
