Reviews being read, but no action

Anyone experienced with book (physical not E) reviews on blogs ?

I tried a couple of reviews for books I have, according to site stats people seem to be reading the entire review (10:00 avg spent on the review page) but there's no action being taken.

Right now I have a text link to the books at Amazon in the opening paragraph. I have an image varying from about 150x150 pixels to 250x250 pixels of the cover placed in the top-right and bottom-left corners of the review, both wrapped with the same link.

The only two reasons I can think of are
    • Primarily "freeloaders" are just seeing if I give anything away in the review
    • Since these are technical books visitors may be savy enough to cut out the affiliate ID, though I can't understand why they would want to after spending soo much time reading a well written review.

I'm considering placing the words "Buy now" or somthing similar along with the cover images, but I've always thought such things to be kinda tacky & really don't want to if it's not going to do any good.

Yes, you will get a lot of freeloaders. Yet another reason why one shouldn't give too much away and or have a newsletter. ... Way too many moochers.

I don't know what you mean when you mentioned Amazon. You mean you critique books there and put your URL at the end?

Just curious...how many have seen your product in yoursite so far, without getting a sale?

    What's your URL?

If you site only serves as a review site and you market it as a review site, people will read and buy it offline.

Change your style, incorporate your aStore. If readers are really interested, they won't take the extra effort to cut down the affiliate ID.

Anyway, one important question, how many traffic are you getting daily? If it is not high, your traffic will be the main problem for the non-conversion rate.

I hadn't thought of that. I might have to change my game plan to work around the average amount of time spent reading my reviews.

You should include reference to how cheap the book is online and compare some of the low (not too low, though, if it's selling for $1 like a lot of people will think there's something wrong with it) Amazon prices with the most expensive Borders/Barnes price.

What kind of sample size are you talking about? Like one of the above posters said, if you're not getting a large amount of traffic, it may be to soon to make any definite conclusions.

Also, not everybody buys books through amazon. I know for me personally, if I want a book, I want it NOW, and it's a lot quicker to just walk or take the subway to Barnes and Noble than it is to order it and wait for it to be delivered. Again, that's just me personally, but I'm sure I'm not alone.

Either way it could be that people are INTERESTED, but they just go out and physically buy the book instead of ordering.
