Google cutting out results?

Am I the only one who's noticed that when searching for things there seem to be far less results than before? Some searches had millions of results but now seem to only have a few million or less than a million. Has anyone else noticed this?

no, I don't pay attention to the number of results....plus that can be misleading......if you search for seo ranter.....a result might be returned that has seo at the top of the page and ranter in another paragraph....google returns the result but it is not in the least bit relevant to the search....maybe they started filtering out results like these...

No, it's their datacenters. They don't have one, they have a ton of different datacenters.

I read somewhere that they were cleaning out their indexes, don't know how true it is though, but I did notice a decrease in search results on some of my keywords.

yah i have noticed that. google have reduced the competition results showing figure to about 90%, so now only ~10% of competitors are being shown compare to previously displaying.
    and yes filter=0 doesn't works.

    YES, results are WAY down.
If you search google for the term "email future date" you will see that futemailDOTcom stays at #3-#4. I have screenshots online showing it was like that when search results were 80million+ but it is now only showing results of 20million plus. You can see the screenshots at r8sDOTus , just click on the "futemailDOTcom screenshots" link.

Results from my main keyword went from 1.8 million to 230,000. I didn't see a change in rankings however.

Seems I'm not alone then, I thought I might be 'cos no one else seemed to have posted about it. I think its a good thing though, making things more targetted and accurate. My sites rankings weren't affected either so that's good.

    HI!
A Similar thing happened to me also.
I was ranked No. 3 for keyword Vedic Maths and now I am out of Google. None of my pages are indexed in Google and I am out. I have over a 1000 backlinks and had a PR of 5. My website was a year old and I dont know how did this happen and what was the reason behind this sudden Google Dance. I am panicky. Can someone please help.???

A reason could be that my website has heavy keyword which I will again optimise for website. I have given a request for reconsideration to google and I Hope they include me again.

Seems like Google Tweaked their algorithms yesterday.

I hope someone gives a solution here.

    Wishes
    Gaurav

You are not incorrect. Google and other search engines have recently changed the way that they index websites. Due to this change there are less pages that come up in a search. Not that this will be extreamly noticable for most as it is pretty rare that anyone will get more that a couple of pages in to search results. You can read more about the changes and how they may affect your websites (assuming you have one) at The Dream Team Money Forums under SEO/Suicide in Cyberspace. This is a pretty detailed explanation as to why some are losing their rankings in Google.

i dont think that your site getting any penalties for google, i have studied it and i thought that there is not good optimization done for your site. you need to optimize your site to get batter rank for those keywords.
