Does Sponsoring Wordpress Themes Work?

Hello,

I was thinking of getting around 20 wordpress themes designed, coded, and then giving them away free, but sponsoring each theme. Is this a good strategy to build backlinks, increase SERP's, and increase PR?

 

It is good technique and you get backlinks.

Create Wordpress themes with your link in the footer for credit. Use relevant keywords you want to rank for in the link anchor text. Then use the most popular theme distribution channels to release your designs. If your work is of high quality, many people will use it, thus giving you a huge amount of free backlinks.

Something unique preferably- check out what users want the most before commissioning one.

The people liking them part is very important, as you might already been knowing. It needs to be on all the major theme sites, for easy accessibility to the public.

 

i have become sponsor 3 wp themesuntil now but i did not get any backlinks from them. people use them 2-3 days and after that, they remove your theme

 

How long since you sponsored them? I can't believe that everybody drop you themes after a few days unless they are pretty ugly

If I knew anything about making or designing Wordpress themes, I'd be doing it, trust me. Yes, it does work. If even one site uses the theme, you can get hundreds of backlinks from your link in the footer - and if it's a great theme, hundreds or thousands of people will use it! Wow, I really DO need to start learning how to do things like that and make themes.

 

Yeah, I have seen one of your themes on a free wordpress themes website. It seems like it it got a lot of downloads. If the sponsoring of wordpress themes didn't work, then how did you get your Web Hosting website to have such a high SERP?

 

I am a designer and I can make some brilliant looking themes. Why the hell did I not do this before? Answer: I didn't know if it would work but thanks to this thread, now I do A little rep for ya gamefray!

 

It can work ok, it was great before Wordpress Themes killed off all the sponsored themes.

One thing i have noticed though, if a popular site removes your theme your SERP's can sink and leave you scratching your head why. It happened to a site of mine the other week and i knew "i" had not changed anything, which led me to believe an algo change may of occurred and hours searching for what actually went wrong.

 

Thats true, that can definently happen. But you were still better off, then you would have been before.

 

What type of wordpress themes to people like the most? Themes where can can just substitute their own image header?

Sponsoring wordpress themes can get you some nice backlinks if people use them (and keep the links).
