As you might know, I run a site that generates google sitemaps, and as an extra service we now offer a small PHP file that can convert the generated XML File to a readable html file to put on your website. If you generate your own sitemaps and never have used our tool, this script might be useful as it saves you a lot of time to download it , go to http://www.freesitemapgenerator.com/xml2html.html and ignore all message about generating sitemaps and cut and paste the code and tune it to fit your needs. all free, no guarantees etc. just post here if you have some feedback/errors etc
Another option is to use Google Sitemaps Stylesheet - here the browser creates an html page from the xml page internally - and the user just sees the html (when the browser supports xslt, which does more or less every modern browser). Tobias
Well, this is a shameless plug for my own program... But, if you want to generate HTML sitemaps (multi columns etc.) and ability to use a template system in doing so, you should check out A1 Sitemap Generator . For an example, check http://www.micro-sys.dk/home/sitemap.php
common Tobias I am sure it would be much easier for you to CREATE a few script lines IN your own sitemap generator http://enarion.net/google/phpsitemapng/ to cleanly CREATE an .html sitemap PLUS a .txt urllist to finally please ALL SE's on the market the sitemap is NOT for readers/site-visitors but above all for SEs and hence for bots grabing the sitemaps in whatever format they love to swallow for later processing a CSS solution is far below your potential of what you can do for us global sitemap needing community !!
Do you mean what I linked to? For quick 1 minute step-by-step tutorial, see article: How to create your first website sitemap
I realize that i am late in joining this discussion... but i run an article directory with over 150,000 artcles - has anyone run this on a larger site?
I know how to write xml for rss feeds...super easy its just regular text...but I'm wondering if anybody has an example of xml sitemap optimized for google that they would like to share with this thread? Thnx!! Go Boston!!
