I use Clickaider to monitor my Adsense activities. Since Adsense cutoff time is not exactly midnight and link unit clicks are not always followed by real clicks, the click number provided by Google is usually smaller than that by Clickaider. But the difference is not very big. Google clicks are usually about 75% - 100% of Clickaider clicks. But recently, especially in last a few days, there is big difference between the two numbers: Google Clickaider 12/3 18 34 12/4 30 45 12/5 25 57 12/6 21 48 For example, there are 27 clicks to ad unit and 21 clicks to link unit based on Clickaider yesterday, but Google credited me only 21 clicks which are even less than the ad unit clicks. What is going on? Does anybody else have the similar experience? What should we do about it?
Yes, I use OpenAds to monitor click activity on some of my websites and have noticed the very same thing. The descrepency is getting wider and wider. What in the world are these guys up to over at Adsense. Slowly distroying the whole system at up until now everyone was happy with.
Some of those click tracker are not accurate though. There always seem some discrepancy. It happened with adlogger too for many people. Goggle is not cheating you.
The click tracker may not be 100% accurate. Even if it is perfectly accurate, because of different cutoff time and the link unit issue, the two numbers can not match perfectly. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Google clicks had been about 75% - 100% of Clickaider clicks consistently since I used the click tracker several months ago before last month. Google's number is usually bigger than ad unit clicks but less than total clicks provided by Clickaider. I think it is reasonable. The traffic to this site has been steadily increasing for the last few months. The clicks shown by both Google and Clickaider have been increasing too. I see the numbers provided by Clickaider are pretty reliable even may not be 100% accurate.
That might be a reason. One day in later October, I noticed 15 clicks from the same IP. I was concerned about that. I took the advice from this forum and send an email to Google. Since then, I have been noticed that Google credits less clicks than before. That is, instead of 75% - 100% of Clickaider clicks, Google had been credited roughly 60% - 90% of Clickaider clicks before the last week. But this week, 3 out 4 days, Google credited less than 50% clicks! I honestly reported a suspicious activity. Does Google take advantage of that and discredit all or most of multiple clicks from the same IP? I think that most of multiple clicks are legitimate. You don't always buy products when you click an ad. Even if you do buy something, you don't necessarily buy from the very first ad you click. You can always click back button and continue surfing the original site.
