Duplicate Content, Subdomains : Interesting find.

So I've been doing lots of experimenting with SE ranking of blogs with roughly the same content and different domains, or on subdomains of the same domain. I've gotten some good results so far using subdomains for certain keywords, and happened to stumble across this interesting find today.

Last night I had a dentists appointment so I was interested to find some info on teeth staining... when googling the term : "drink coffee without staining"

I found that yahoo.com came up with the EXACT SAME content on 3 different subdomains within the first 2 pages, two of them being page one numbers 3 and 8.

Though there isn't a huge amount of pages showing results for this search term I was still surprised to find 3 pages with the same exact content coming up like that simply because of subdomain use.

    Hi,
    Interesting point!
Although, I would not risk it, especially after the latest google PR drop operations to avoid people "cheating" on the algorithms.

That could work up to a point where GG discovers it and then there is only one possible option : Black list :)

I find this as well with some sites even on Google. There are also some top rated results that I've seen related to our business where there is not even an attempt at transparency between the subdomains and redirects yet it apparently helps keep their SERPS up.

Well thats the thing, I certainly would avoid this with any valued websites I currently own, But its worth a try with some junk sites.
