Yes you are right. That is why I always say we are against US foreign policy but we love US and americans and all good that came from there I really don't see any point in this kind of threads since world is not black and white...
I still remember a trip I took at France back in 82'.... Holy crap were people mean over there.. Especially if you did not speak French.. I asked for a chocolate ice cream cone in French and what I got back was "stupid American"... Ok, so I did not speak very well, but I tried.. The sentiment at that time was mixed all over.. As it always is.. While in Scotland in 95' or there abouts, people would not leave me and my friends alone.. They wanted to talk to us, just to hear our accents.. It was insane.. Women flocked, life was good.. England around the same period, get into talk about politics.. eek.. We were in this underground bar, (I say underground because it was under the ground like the tube)... anyway, the bartender was Aussie, the regulars were Brits, and there was the one lone IRA guy (that's what the other patrons called him) and us Americans... Holy crap the shit that erupted there.. It starts out because the IRA guy and the Brits are getting into it about , what else... When we are dragged into the discussion because our president at the time (Clinton) had "entertained IRA terrorists in the White House", as it was put. Man, I have never seen more bad blood on both sides of the isle than I saw that night... Meanwhile, I'm there just wanting to drink a few pints... So between me, and the bartender from down under, that was probably the only peaceful discussion all night.. Don't even get me started on the Jokes that people would say to us some time later about Clinton and bobble head Monica... sheesh... Agreed..
Could not resist this one. Now before someone gives me red rep for this I honestly think it is a genuinely funny comment thats all. Now let me start laughing HAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAA.....OHHOHHHOHOHOHO.."Especially if you did not speak French" HAHAHAAAA Ok, done. Carry on. Thanks for the laughter.
Hello, I would partially disagree when you say French and Germans are pretty anti-war today. Its now true Germany is a pacifist country; I guess the last world war caused so many damages to their country they don't want it anymore. Meanwhile recently they have been engaged into some military operations which lead to some political controversies. France has a long military tradition (Why some of you are laughing and is definitelly not a pacifist country. Being against the war of Irak doesn't mean we were antiwar but simply opposed to the way of finding and destroying the famous WMD (By the way, where the hell are they As a matter of fact, you can check our current deployments here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deployments_of_the_French_military And I never heard any complains here about thoses operations despite the fact that we are sometimes loosing some of our boys worldwide as well Regards Thibaut
exactly, thats what pisses me off. America might be a great country, but all I know apart from the american entertainment is that they start wars on our continent while their "great" home is at piece. The reason of that might be that US never really had a big war on its land, thats why they are hungry. I wonder what would happen if US was wiped off for 4 years of war, like it was in Europe at ww2...Fight in Mexico, Cuba, South America, at least then they will be capable to answer you back and you will think twice before sending troops, do not touch Europe. Most Americans are against wars (polls, etc.), so I hope there wont be another Bush #2 in the future.
What the hell? The education system is different The Health care system is different The Gun laws are different The welfare laws are different They drive on the other side of the road They use a different currency Infact, the only values they share with us is that we both speak english (America does to a certain extent) and the leaders of both countries are idiots.

There's many Americans who feel the same way about this sort of chest pounding "patriotism" that is so prevalent down south. So it's a bit of a culture clash here as well... I mean the difference from where I grew up in southern Virginia to here in New York City is quite great. They could hardly be more different.
Just about every western country has the same values, if that is what you are talking about (Free speach and democracy)
No there is not! Policy is a reflection of ones values! They go hand in hand! Isnt it BUSH that is spreading "democracy" and "our values" through his policies? WAKE THE FUCK UP!
