I know that text links are considered better but do spiders have issues with images links? Thanks for the help.

Spiders do not have trouble with image links. They have trouble with javascript links and flash.

Remember it's the alt text that counts as the anchor not the filename.

IMO text links and image links are a good source of backlinks but the text links are more efficient source cause you can place your target KWs there than the latter..

No, I didnt mean image maps. I read that spiders have issues with java, image maps AND image links. The image links is where I got concerned.

I think google can read alt tags in image links. But I believe that text link are much better to improve your targeted keywords.

Image link should be OK but with banner ads on the rise, Matt Cutts is saying that standard image size such as 125x125, 468x60 and so on will be automatically parsed with a "nofollow" tag.

    SE can't crawl flash

Yes spiders do read the image links but they can't read your anchor text writen in the form of an image and this is why text links are much more favoured by most of the SEO's because search engines like Google and Yahoo give a lot of importance to your anchor text in the links.

Spiders CAN read image links - however, and you probably know this, they cannot read what the actual image. For example, if a banner says "Save Money" on it, Google has no know way of knowing that. But they CAN read those words if they are linked to with a text link. Understand? :)

Spider has no problem with image links. It can follow both text link and image link same way.
