I am having a lot of information regarding finance, stocks,mutual funds...etc. and i want to launch a website on this niche. But I dont have much funds to invest (I just have about $10-$15). I was thinking whether to get a domain name from godaddy.com or any such company. Do they provide only domain name or space to store our webpages also? How everything works out if i want to set up my own wesbsite? I am just unaware of these things. Please explain from where should I start? I can also go with free websites like the one provided by google - googlepages. Is it true that websites with good 1st level domain name are good at attracting traffic as compared to such free hostings? Should I go with free hosting like zymic.com? What does godaddy actually provide? Please guide i am confused.. i just dont know from where should I srat.. Thanks in advance. ssssaurabh
Godaddy provides domain but hosting must be paid. Free hosting is something hated since of its unreliability. Paid one like Hostgator assures you that your website will stay up 99% of the time.
Here's a rough guide - buy a hosting package that includes 1 domain. 10 to 15 bucks should be enough for the first year of hosting. - download the latest wordpress - upload it to your webspace - set up Your domain correctly, so it leads to Your wordpress installation - Find a nice wordpress theme and upload it, too (optional, You can do that later once You get visitors) - Find some nice plugins to enhance Your wordpress (optional, You can do that later once You get visitors) - Start writing on Your blog - submit it to the google search engine - once You have 20 articles, start promoting Your site. - if You haven't done it before find a theme now and customize it - apply for google adsense and put the adverts on Your page - enjoy Your self earned money

If you are serious about your plans i woud advice not to go for any free hosting. Better to buy domain and hosting. Go daddys provides small amount of space for hosting free but it is add supported. Better buy some small hosting space may be in 200 to 500MB if your site is not to big. That wont cost you much. And domain you can get for about $7.15 including ICANN using cuppon codes
Which domain you suggest, .com and .info have lot of diference between them. The traffic will be mostly from India so should i go for .in ? what is ICANN? and what are coupon codes..? sorry.. a newbie here
.com seems most appropriate the site you're planning because in future you may think to expand over other countries not limiting to one specific country.
.com is better .in is also considerable. You can get cheap .in these days. Its dropped to about 150 INR in India suppose. So you can buy it easily. Cuppon codes are discount cuppons. Usually at godaddys the .com costs about $9.xx but when ou use any discount codes you get it for $6.95 +$0.20 ICANN fee.
If your site is targatted towards indian audience i would say go with .in, It would also be relatively easy to get a nice keyword rich domain name with .in extension related to your niche.
wow.. nice advise.. i bought my domains from godaddy with the DN coupons.. .com would be the best option. research and chose a keyword rich related domain name to build your online biz.. and they also provide free hosting but with limited resourcse like space and email (no mailbox) but you can start with free hosting and once you see some profits coming in, then you can switch to cheap hosting plans available on the internet. there are just so many out there..
