How many vBulletin licenses do you guys own? How about forums? Do you guys buy an owned license or buy a leased license?

I usually always go with an owned license.

How many licenses you have most likely will be the same number as how many forums you have. Unless you don't use it.

Use to have 2 owned licenses now just 1.

I have two, which aren't being used in any forum. I am going to launch a niche forum in the coming days, based on vBulletin.

The license number is the same as the forum number, its one forum per license, anyway I only have 1.

    zero VB licenses

I just counted all my forum installs of mybb...it's 40. I have about 15-25 other domains to install still but I want to catch up on the work I have first. I am building southparkforums.com this week. On a good week I can build 3 forum sites with custom skins. If I had VB...it would cost me $3400 a year for 40 licenses to LEASE.

Double that and you shouldn't have any worries about renewing the licenses :D

Oh you mean getting the lifetime paid license? Then I would also have to fork over $30 a year in order to get updates. Bulk discount on say 50 licenses is $5300 and then the $30 a year for updates is $1500 more. I could spend that $7k on better things in those 2 years. I would probably benefit by using the money toward contests, promotion, and maybe even paying for a pro custom skin.

Currently just one forum running an owned VB license. I will pay $30 though for updates once 3.7 is out.

Agreed. :) It depends how you spend the cash, having like a few of each forum platforms is a great idea, I will have a look at myBB if I develop any new forum.

I got zero licenses right now, but am planning on buying an ipb license or vbulletin. Probably vbulletin since it has more features and I could get vbseo.
