CRYSIS - your hardware

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by greenstar91, Dec 5, 2007.

I have recently purchased CRYSIS by Crytek, and was wondering what sort of grpahics card I should get to play it. My upgrade has been long overdue and I was wondering which graphics cards play it on what settings e.g. low, medium, high e.t.c.

I have 1 gig ram and a 3.2ghz single core processor. I think those are ok....

Anyway please post what graphics cards you have and what setting you play it on.

    Thanks

    don't get the 8800
    it's outdated

either get something from ATI with the 3000x series (they are on par with nvidias offerings. But are better because of the amount of texture units, and they support DX10.1 instead of just DX10)

or wait until 08 and see what nvidia has to come out...

Oh, also, ATI's new range is on 55nm technology instead of 65nm and 90nm

    Core 2 Quad 6600 @ 2.4GHz
    2x1GB RAM 1160MHz
    GeForce 7600GT
    Windows Vista

The game runs fine. Framerates never drop below 20fps but remain under 25.

gonna get the 8800gt in a week. can't wait!!

Having a 4Q right now just for games isn´t the best business, only a few games take advantage of 4Q (crysis is one of then).

Go for a cheap car right now, just to play 1024*768 medium like an HD2600XT for $100, then em Feb08 sell it and buy an 8800gt or 9xxxseries

    Quad core processors are worthless
    especially from AMD
    but even from Intel, worthless

all Intel processors currently out are worthless. They are changing to a different LGA socket in Q1 of 08

If I was going to get a good multi-core processor right now, I'd go for an AM2+ socket motherboard with a cheap x2 athlon

    why?

    the future

AM3 will be backwards compatible with AM2+

currently, the phenom processors that are out suck. Way too many bugs. AMD's stopped shipping them for awhile until they sort the bug which currently requires a bios fix, hardware side

but in the future, they'll be bomb

    look up the "AMD Bulldozer"

also look out for the revised 8800GTS cards (based on the new G92 chipset). if you are planning to buy for the holiday season, wait for these cards to arrive.
