If you really mean 'today', then the answer is in my signature:)

Regarding business.com, it's very difficult to compare because it had a huge business attached to it.

If we're talking pure domains, then it must be sex.com last year. But of course pure would be an unfortunate choice of word in that case.

What about Google or Yahoo? I think they would be based solely on traffic.

They're not worth that much as domains, only as websites (as businesses).

That is a bunch of crap.

I bet anyone would pay a ton for Google.com or Yahoo.com. Think of all the traffic those DOMAINS get. Who cares about the website ...

They would get traffic only because they're associated with an already established brand. I'm saying that if we're talking about a pool of domains with no brands associated with them, no one would pay much money for Google.com or Yahoo.com compared to, say, Poker.com.

"They're not worth that much as domains, only as websites (as businesses)."

But that's what valuable domains are 100% of the time.

What's the most valuable domain that has nothing of value on it currently? Who knows? Who cares?

The answer is either microsoft.com or google.com.

    Didn't sex.com sell for about $10m and poker.com sell for about $25m?

Imagine if you parked google for 1 day. Just 1, 24 hrs and you get to keep all the profits.

that was the point of Discover.com being so valuable at $5 million

it was the name that they wanted, had zero to do with traffic or website, because they changed the whole subject of the domain when they bought it
