I can give you a reason why most people hate America
Americans are so ignorant towards other cultures
I mean, for christ sakes, they think Canadians live in iglus even though Americas attached to Canada
what do the fuck they think happens? the border patrol keep the fucking snow and cold out?

and for the record, I hate Bush
but I love America, because although a lot of people are ignorant, there's a lot of good people there
    (I'm from the UK btw)

This could be one of the reasons why we're pissed off. When you push around other people you are bound to not be the most popular country out there. We've been killing eachother in Europe for way too much time, maybe we realised nothing good ever comes out of it. America is also percieved as the agressor in most of its post ww2 wars.
Hipocrisy could be another reason. You know, stuff like having thousands of nukes and telling others to have none or portraying yourselfs as defenders of democracy but supporting dictatorial regimes like the one in Pakistan.

I fail to find anyhing great about America that can't be found anywhere else.

    link:
I have no ideea how some americans percieve liberalism as something negative. Can you please tell me which of the liberal principles you don't agree with?

P.S.: just to make things clear, we dont hate America or americans, we just hate some things you do

Agreed iul. People gotta stop yapping that America is this greatest. From most ways I look at it, they are far from being the greatest. And besides there is no such thing as the greatest country. What you basing it on? What does greatest actually mean?

I'm European, I don't hate America, I hate some Americans and I hate some of the things it's current goverenment does, but hating an entire country based on the actions af a few isn't just bigoted but it's also stupid.

The US has a lot of great things going for it, and there are plenty of worse countries to worry about.

    However....

It's sentiments like that which Europeans don't understand. Bragging and boasting aren't really traits to be admired over here. Our sense of humour tends to be more reserved and self-depreciating. I guess it's just a bit of a culture clash.

A quote from a person in denial that lives in his own little bubble. Seriously think about the implication to your comment. The hardest part is admitting it, after that the truth will set you free.

Thankfully, it is just a small minority of upset Americans that are like this.

Unfortunately, they tend to get the majority voice at times.. ;)

I'll tell you what your implying. You are saying that you don't care what other people think of America, neglecting to look at the reasoning behind why people think that. In that sense your denying to look at fact or truth and rather live in your fantasy world in which you believe America is the Greatest Country in the world.

..looking for my rosy covered glasses...

    Denying what?!?

That there may be such a thing as a war that was a mistake?
That an American President may be flawed ,perhaps even severly?
That the fear of midnight transactions in the desert could lead to an attack?
That innocent women and children are dying?

    and.. ?

So what?? When if ever has the world been a better place? I dont know where you are but Im quite certain that in the history of your place of origin is some nasty nasty events.

You people act like you are being denied some fantasy planet because of the actions of one governement. Go ahead and subtract the US from your world. It will be a darker world illuminated only by the dim dying light of Europe. A world still full of the evil and wickedness of men. But this is the type of evil that you never notice. No rally for the of oppression Iraqis, Iranians, North Koreans, Africans at the mercy of dictators. No, that would require to much energy, its much easier to bash America for THE VERY HIGH IDEALS IT FALLS WELL SHORT OF.

I don't know what your talking about. Your running off topic, You said you don't care what other people think you can still believe America is great. So tell me whats so great about America? What makes it the Greatest Country in the World? Its not. There is not such thing as the greatest country because the word greatest can't not be measured. Where you measuring it with?

Sure US has the strongest military and great at mass killing by dropping bombs. But that doesn't mean its the Greatest Country in the world.

Well that is not any different than the previous admin.. I mean, people loved American, but were anti-Clinton.. Prior to that they were Anti-Bush Senior, anti-Reagan, anti-Carter and so on...

That sentiment is no different today than it was 20 years ago!!!

Our country was not founded with the intention of being imperialistic, quite the opposite. So in a historical sense I find it quite sad that we have arrived at this place. I think the balance of history truly rests in what happens over the next few years. I'm hopeful that somehow Bush making our imperialistic tendencies so obvious to the world and to the citizens here in America will be enough to wake people up, to make a true change in our direction. Imperialism always fails, and it always should.

Our country was founded on the ideals of civil liberty and a non interventionist foreign policy. It's time to be true patriots and bring America back to it's true calling. And no, it is not patriotic to support your government no matter what. And no, the government is not the same thing as it's citizens. I am not George W Bush, I did not invade Iraq, I am not threatening Iran. That's our government doing those things. I hate the way America is seen in Europe but that's not the biggest of our concerns... Our concerns shouldn't be perceptions but what is actually happening right now. We have to change direction and fast.
