Though they are being forced to leave as they can not become legal citizens, I personally know a lot of people that are expatriating. The number of Americans leaving the country is astounding, but it is not talked much about. It is a sad and desperate trend, but I am not surprised as the quality of life in America is declining....fast.

I wonder if they paid taxes those 12 years they where here? I've been paying my taxes since I was 15, and just got another bill from the IRS just yesterday, demanding more money!

I highly doubt they paid income taxes ;) Even if they did, they were here illegally, pretty open and shut case IMHO.

Agreed! Illegal immigration creates a lot of problems for LEGAL immigration.

    That it does..

I have no problem with immigrants, so long as it's done by the laws of the US. I am not for rewarding non US citizens for breaking our laws, yet throwing simple pot heads 'US citizens' into prison.

Makes me think we have some things backwards currently in this great land of ours ;)

Yeahh, a lot of things seem to be backwards and getting worst. The problem with the current situation is that there is so many broken things that by the time you try to fix the one the other falls apart, and by the time you try to fix that other one another one falls apart. I guess these are the consequences when you steer away from the constitution and our core values. When we fight illegal wars under the pretext of spreading freedom, when there is no fiscal responsibility, when you have corporations dictate policy, the power is then transfered to the selected few and away from the people, so the outcome then is simply this.

Where are the facts on this? I consider myself a liberal when it comes to economics, and even I wouldn't go to the extreme to say that the quality of life is declining in any shape or form at a rapid pace. I do think that illegal immigration is slowly having its effects and the Republicans favor big business which I think is a poor economic model, but overall the economy is doing quite well at this very moment.

By quality of life I mean the following and please chime in on the ones that you disagree with.

    1. Cost of living has gone up
    2. Our currency is worthLESS
    3. The food we consume is unhealthy and full of pesticides
    4. Most Americans have to work more and longer for less to stay afloat
    5. As a collective society we owe a huge deficit (about $30,000 a head)
    6. We have a failed health care system with over 30 million uninsured
    7. An expensive educational system that is unaffordable to most that is dumbing people down
    8. We can not depend on our government in times of natural disasters (FEMA, Katrina)
    9. We have complete domination of mainstream media by a select (5) group
    10. Our constitution has been stepped on
    11. The middle class has practically vanished
    12. No job security as most decent paying jobs have been shipped out

Thats just a few major points that come to mind.

    1. True
    2. True
    3. True for quite sometime but is only a result of the desires of the people. You do not have to eat those types of food.
    4. This is what we call capitalism, you can be as successful or as unsuccessful as you want to be.
    5. Is this any surprise? It has been quite sometime since the people have not relied on loans to pay for homes and cars, although many people 100 years ago built their own.
    6. Our healthcare system is not perfect, it is just better than anyone elses. I have studied this in depth for an American Government class. We are about 10 years ahead of everyone else, including Canada, in terms of technology that is available.
    7. Expensive? Not hardly, teachers should be paid more than what they are getting paid now. I know in my state that we take care of those that can't afford the lunches or student supplies, and we live in probably one of the worst states in terms of education. Still a lot better than most countries when you look in Africa and they have a literacy rate less than 70%.
    8. Katrina was a terrible mistake, i'm not disagreeing with that. But it seemed much improved for those that faced fires in California. I believe nearly the same amount, if not more were forced to evacuate their homes. Seems to be an improvement in my book.
    9. Agreed, but even when newspapers were the source of news, people still put in their opinions and had agendas. This is no different than it has been for quite sometime.
    10. Examples please.
    11. We are far from not having a middle class. Take a look at some countries like India where you are either wealthy or extremely poor. I think you will appreciate the status of most americans.
    12. Agreed here, there should be some form of incentive to keep business here in the US. Perhaps tariffs would be that answer, I don't know. Education plays a factor here though, if you are making money on others rather than working for someone else, you increase your possibilities.

So by your own admission do you then think that overall are we in a DECLINE or INCLINE in terms of quality of life judging by some of the above? In other words do you think things are getting better or worse for most Americans? Thats the point I was trying to make. Should be an easy one for most average people that feel the pinch.

    1. of course it always does it almost never goes down, this is the same in almost every country unless you live in a third world country.

    2. Hmm dunno where you got this remark but i think were 2nd in the world behind the euro?

    3. The food we eat? how about the food you eat. We as a country probably have the most options to eat what ever we want its out there we just gotta find and eat the right things ourselfs nobody can baby spoon feed you man.

    4. These people that have to stay "afloat" also have thousands of dollars in credit card debt because they wanna buy shoes every week. its there own fault.

    5. Thats more or less the goverments problem, we can't really do anything about what gets spent or not.

    6. yes its a big problem with no solution in sight.

    7. what education are you talking about? the free public education maybe, THATS FREE?!

    8. Natural disasters are pretty rare and for the most part are only dealt with from state to state if it becomes really bad then they bring in people like fema and what not but they need the order before they can be sent out, and guess whos at the helm.

    9. What does that matter? does that mean you gotta watch it? if you wanna learn the facts for yourself not with smoke and mirrors then you gotta go look at independent news sources.

    10. dunno what you mean by that..

    11. considering its the biggest class there is i think your just being a baby now and making shit up.

    12. I am sure you would love to work in a shoe factory all day right? most of you people wouldn't clean toilets to save your lives yet you bitch about outsourcing jobs. just stfu already.
