I implemented a new template in my website waterfronthousesusa.com about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Since my google rankings have disappeared. Most of the 1510 pages have been recached and non are in the supplemental results. Typically, how long should it take for the rankings to return?

4-6 weeks is my opinion, was it a complete template change or just small changes?

I don't think changing a template could affect your rankings. Maybe done something in your content or you update your content.

I doubt that its just all about changing the template. maybe you've done something else like for example, the page title...

The content, links, and urls were are the same. Those state links in the footer were listed before as they are, except they were in the main body. I justed moved them to the footer. Th url structure hasn't change. The template design is completely different which caused things to move around in the source code some. But most of the content, headers, titles, are all the same.

I think the template change *may* be a coincidence - you might have picked up a penalty for the content, which, with respect, might have raised a spam flag at Goog.

If the site does not come back up in say 3 weeks I would look into that

Well, I feel it is because of the template change. You can see what the old template looked like at riverfronthousesusa.com. The site ranks #1 for the term riverfront houses.
