Why pitbulls?

I own a staffordshire bull terrier which is fairly related to a pitbull from my understanding. so the question at hand is.. why do people like pit bulls?

Please do not turn this into a bashing thread, I was just wondering what draws people to them.

People like pitbulls because they are mean and aggresive.

They get their name because they were used at one time in pits to get bulls... see the whatever.

    They're naturally mean.

From what I know about dogs (which admitedly isn't much), Staffies were traditionally bred for showing, not fighting - which is a pretty significant difference.

I can't understand why anyone would want a dog that had even the slightest hint of aggression.
    I want a big dopey wolfy :)

Quite simply when pit bulls bite they don't let go. They have evolved as fighting, biting machines.
Staffies on the otherhand make quite good pets because of their friendly temperament.

I'm not defending any dogs. As far as I am concerned, American and even English staffies can be just as deadly as a pitbull. That video was to demonstrate that pitbulls and some other dogs that are usually labeled "aggressive" can be good. I think much of it depends on the owner. But even with the best owner, it's important to remember they are animals with a mind of their own.

    What's wrong with poodles?

Are you saying that only "idiots own poodles"?

Only girls and sissies own poodles. Real men own pit bulls, or Staffies - techblog is slowly convincing me that they're the same thing.

I did not say anything was wrong with poodles.
    I said "I'm sure some"

I assumed the picture you posted was implying that only "gangsters" own pitbulls.

I disagree. I know some big people that own poodles. Although myself, I hate small dogs and I hate just huge dogs. Hence why the staffy is perfect. Some people get my staffy confused with a pitbull, mine can get angry if you push the wrong buttons.
