New SEO Forum - Requesting Feedback

I know it can be tough to get a new forum off the ground, but I haven't even gotten 10 legitimate signups on this forum in the year it's been live. I don't know if it's just because it's mostly empty, but it seems like SEO types would post anywhere they could to build up more links. I've tested repeatedly to make sure there aren't any issues with the registration process itself but it all seems to work fine. If anyone has any feedback as to why people might not be signing be I'd appreciate it. Feel free to be harsh.

No one will register on a empty forum. Pay some people to post, or get some mates to post. I suggest also building up your blog.

    Yep thats good advice.

The problem with forums is that no one signs up if no one is signing up, its a catch 22 :)

Definetely work to get some content on there to make it look active, even if you have to make a few dummy accounts yourself. If people do start to post questions make sure you answer them too.

The site looks really nice though!!!

Well it looks really bad saying: Total number of registered users: 2058

Thats not true at all or you would have atleast a couple hundred if not thousands of posts. And if your going to start a forum use vBulletin, you can check my sig for a example of what I am talking about forum software wise.

    Posts are needed.

To get things moving, you'll probably want to get a group of people doing posts (with valuable information) and have them answering questions.

gotlinks - There actually are 2058 registered users, but all but about 10 of them are spam registrations, which I don't delete, I just ban them and leave them in the system.

So what I'm getting from everyone is fake it until you make it, more or less :)

I think the biggest question arises if it is a new forum then how will they get visitors. I also have a site called how2cf which is a forum site and am also begging visitors. How do I do it? Let me know your opinions on how do I get visitors.

Well obviously you have to post yourself a lot from the beginning. Maybe even make some controversial topics etc ... attract visitors. Once you have good threads SE visitors will kick in....

Im with gotlinks delete the spammers these people will make your forum worthless.

Tell all your friends post links on relevant blogs. Join facebook and submit it to directories and then spend some time on there yourself posting useful stuff that should get the ball rolling for you.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Dave

Make an advertising section where will be allowed to post only to the members which have made some number of posts (usually 5 - 10).

If you will decide to make this step, please PM me, I will be happy to join your community :)

Start good threads and promote it by giving some offer for posting.

Really nice forum. I registered there some time ago and even made some posts. But then stopped to visit it because there was nothing new...

Create new interesting threads. I am sure people from DP will join if your discussions will be interesting.

Probably you can run a contest or something to attract people.

    Good luck
