Hello. My problems: 1. I'm choosing between hostmonster and 1and1. Please recommend some best webhosting for forum and give me some review or tips. 2. My previous hostee suspended my account because he said there's playing with my site Ping and ping my website imagine 30951 seconds stealing his bandwidth of his other customer. How to get rid off this pingers?
A big company is bound to get more negative than positive reviews because people who have a good experience tend not to talk about it. I'm not saying 1and1 is good or anything like that I'm just pointing out the fact these big companies hostgator, dreamhost, 1and1 ect. probably see more bad than good on a forum just due to their size and when a user has a good experience they say that's expected it's not a surprise.
1and1 are awful. We ran some security scenarios on behalf of a client who was hosted on one of their shared servers recently and it was full of holes. I have never heard of hostmonster but alot of people here seem to dig hostgator so if anything I think you will be in the right crowd with them. I run a small web hosting outfit for value hosting called www.ukcheaphosts.com and I oversee the servers personally and can tell you we are reliable, affordable and offer good support. Our packages are not as competitive as the amazing miracles you see here but we are long term. (1 person was offering 1Tb of space for $595 per year or something silly like that) All the best in your decsion making.
hostgator are actually pretty good, they stand up to there name most of the time on the security front. my security team keeps an eye on there servers also as we have backups with them.
I am using different hosts but with Hostgator I have some problems with loading file via third party ftp, otherwise it is good and their support is superb to say the least.
I have used HostGator for almost 3 years and have used all of their options: shared hosting, reseller hosting, and the dedicated server option. I have been very pleased with their customer support. I love that they use cPanel/WHM (I would not use a host that did not offer cPanel/WHM although I know that some people like Plesk which I absolutely hate). I can usually get through to their 24/7 online chat support in under a minute and although the online chat support technicians don't always know what they are talking about they will refer you to their email support ticketing system if they are unsure what to do. Their email support ticketing system is usually very fast and those technicians are typically very knowledgeable.
