Interesting study in pagerank

This was my old domain, www.itlent.com. It's still online but only with the page you see. I took the rest of the site down when I started working full time again as an internet systems administrator. Anyway, it still has a pr of 5. It's been this way for nearly a year. I'm guessing it's because of all of the inbound links from all of the sites and shopping carts I set up over the last few years.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that G still gives it a good PR even though the page is pretty empty.

PR is all about links, not about content. So if you still have links coming in to that page, the PR won't go away (it may lessen or increase, depending upon how the PR lessens/increases of the pages that are linking to it).

If you want an extreme example of the no content, but lotsa back links, check out http://ghg.ecn.purdue.edu/~ghg/

As implied, has been "zero'd" out for over a year - used to have the infamous "use liquid oxygen to light your BBQ" stuff on it.

But even with no content for over a year, it carries a PR7 and ranks top-5 for terms such as "bbq grill" ;-)

Yes the number of Backlinks are more important to get a page rank no matter your site is one page or of 100 pages
