Am I WASTING $$ with hostgator?

I have a few sites on hostgator, and love the service.

But I have "hatchling" plans for a few different domains at $9/mo. It just dawned on me, as I looked at the site closer, that I can get just one "baby" plan for $10/mo and put ALL my different domains on it? Is that right?

I've seen people say "oh I have 2 baby plans" -- why would anyone need more than one?

Anyway if this is indeed possible, is there an easy way to merge the ones I have?

    Thanks.
(And for anyone looking for hosting I recommend hostgator, they seem great and I've been using them over a year.)

    2 Hosting accounts = 2 IPs

If helps if your going to link all of your site together, Google doesn't like tons of site all on the same ip linked.

On some accounts (not sure if the basic hostgator ones offer it) you can just order additional IPs for a few dollars a month, rather than having multiple accounts.

I could be wrong, but I've read/heard/saw somewhere that Google puts little weight on sites linking to each other on the same subnet. If you're going to set up 2 unlimited hosting accounts, it might be best to use HostGator for one and someone else for the other. This way you would get completely different networks back linking to each other.

Actually Hostgator is the sadest host there is. Get your hump to some other host. HostGator just brings in a lot of cash due their affiliate programs which pays good :)

Some people sites might need more bandwidth so that's why they take 2 plans.

That's simple it's because he's advertising the hosting company he most likely owns in his signature.

I have had problems with uptimes with them, but you get what you pay for. Hostig 50 sites for $10 is retardly cheap.

Once you make it to the big leauges buy a deticated server and buy like 10 ips for a buck each, and spread your sites across them. (im not there yet)

yes, i have a problem with that. you stated a fact, not a vision, which by your own omission was oudated and was putting down a company. if a company deserves to be put down then fair enough but don't unjustly put down a company just to add weight to your post.

I signed up with Hostgator a week ago. A couple of days later, on a Sunday actually, I get a phone call from a customer rep inquiring to see if the sign up went ok and if there's anything I needed. I was floored because I've never gotten a call like that from any online or offline purchase. When I had some difficulties uploading my websites, I was able to reach a live tech on the phone 24/7. In my book, Hostgator's customer service is tops, second to none.

I'm not selling their service, just sharing my actual experience.

I was with Hostgator for a while. Uptime wasn't the greatest, but for the price it's hard to complain.

I was with Hostgator about a year and was satisfied. Friendly people and no problems. Then one day the email server stopped working. Support couldn't figure it out and kept giving me nonsense answers. 3 days went by and still no fix and dumb answers from support. I was forced to move to another hosting service.

There is always a weak link or two in any business. I seem to be good at finding it. You will be fine with Hostgator, unless there is a problem, and then hope you get someone in support who knows what they are doing.
