How do you SEO for the Local Results http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dallas+pool+service ? I see the same company's in the local results with Map all the time, there has to be a way to to SEO for this. Thanks.
Have you submitted your company to Google Local listings? I am not allowed to post the link as I am new, but basically, go to google and type : "google local listings" And its the first link. Log into your google account and add your business.
you need to use those keywords as your business title for the ad and create multiple ones for different search terms, this seems to be effective. or you can just be the best hsaha
I think it's based upon your IP address, and how close Google resolves it. I bet if you asked certain people in your area what shows up on the map it would vary based upon where you search. In fact, you can test it yourself, drive around the area, and go to local libraries and do the search, it's different depending on where you go. I did that one day and came up with widely different results. As far as optimizing to show up on the map, I haven't quite figured that one out. I have a bunch of sites locally in google, but I haven't figured the trick to get them to show up first on the map, even though they are first for the keywords. Other than like I said zip code specifically being mapped to IP address. MR
Try to get links from site that has localized domain extension. Like for example your priority is to rank well in Canada, try to target a site that has extension of .ca For other source of traffic you can also join some localized community based on your targeted country.
do you have a page on your site with your address, phone number and store hours? Is it crawlable in plain html text?
*SIGH* (Towards other posters) You can geo-target with Google Webmasters Central to get localized and regional results only, below is the steps to do this. 1. Login to Webmasters Central (www.google.com/webmasters) 2. Click your Site 3. Click on Tools Tab 4. Click on Set geographic target 5. Follow the instructions This is the "best" method to do what your asking.
this will work, I did it for one of my sites getting links from local sites will help but the webmasters tools had me ranking locally in 2 weeks
Put your company name, address, ph # on every page. When Google indexes your pages it will compile that information(name, address, and ph#) and search for listings in Google Local that are similar or the same. It will take awhile, but eventually Google will index the information on your website along with your business listing. This is why it is critical to have your website optimized for the keywords you want your listing to appear in Google Local search results. Put a Google map on your contact me page. Go to Google, find your business listing in Google Local. Click on your listing, and then copy the code that appears when you click "link to this map". Add this map on your contact me page. If it doesn't affect the pages appeal, you can add the map to your home page for improved results. If you click on the listings that rank the highest for your keywords, and then click on "Details", you will see some of the sources where Google is retrieving information. The information that you will find on any top ranking listing is: BBB.org, any Chamber Of Commerce, and Superpages. You can get a free listing from Superpages. Chambers usually charge $300 for membership, but without it you wont rank over someone that has it. Check out the BBB.org website to see how your business is listed, if not send an email requesting that it be listed there. If you become a member of the BBB directory, I have found that your information gets submitted much quicker than without being a member. Get listed in the Yahoo Directory, it cost $300. Well worth it. Make sure that you are listed in local directories like yellowpages.com and infousa.com. There are many others, but do your homework, Only submit to the directories that are listed in the dmoz.org directory and the Yahoo Directory. This should get you started.
