I have a 256kb connection for $60 AUD a month. After I download 13GB, the internet download slows to 64kbps and upload to 2kbps.

Regional broadband is expensive and crap...

You can blame the outgoing government for that 11 year gap in BB infrastructure

It's just so ridiculous that a country as "developed" as australia has such bad Internet competition and speed.

Bandwidth here in South Africa is also crap, they say it is the "Cost Of International" Bandwidth keeps then from dropping the price. I hate Telkom, they suck ASS

I have the best that is available to 'non-business' with ADSL2, in our area we get excited when it goes at about 500kb/s. my bro is still having 56k dialup... lol - so I was feeling pretty darn good with my connection.

Now I am feeling highly inadequate.

Kevin Rudd (our new Prime Minister) has said that he plans to make it a priority for higher quality broadband. I look forward to seeing what he does :)

    I'm with aapt.
adsl. my laptop connects to desktop wireless router..my laptop tells me i'm getting 54Mps.
I think average wired speed we're getting is100mps or just under.

10gigs of downloads and uploads. month. I'm averaging only 600mb..once i hit 6 gigs.
the $$'s expensive. It was supposed to be 39.95month but the bills are averaging $100 a month. It's tied to the phone line..and becuase we got behind 1 payment its snowballed.. we should be paying no more than $50au month for both phone and adsl..but thanks to telstra line rental costs more than the phone calls we make.

    Communications in this country sucks.
