Funny but I don't have one (and others are using it for a long time). Wacom is expensive compared to other brands. What other brands do you suggest and what are your feedbacks? Thank you.
Wacom Graphire isn't that expensive and you can do just about anything with it. Before I got my Graphire I was reading reviews of tablets and Wacom got the best reviews.. sometimes paying a little more is worth it
I don't own a Wacom (although I've been wanting to for years) but I would assume you can use it for just about anything graphic related. I'm sure you can import from Photoshop to other programs like Illustrator which is preferred for vectors though. As far as reviews go Wacom is the leading tablet manufacturer by far. Just like Logitech is with keyboards and mice. I'd definitely start off with a Graphire like Nora suggested and if you like it then move on up to a more expensive version.
I just owned graphire 6 months now. And it gives me designers satisfaction and perhaps it is not that expensive oh well.. why suffer quality over cost, right? also.. Wacom has free vector software included. Try it and you won't regret it..
Really? Mine only came with Painter.. I tried it out in Illustrator but the you don't end up seeing different line strokes like in Photoshop.
Yeah, mine came also only with Painter.. Wacom is good for vector as well, but it's not much better than mouse imo. I used my wacom for drawing digital art mostly ;P
Of course you can use it for vectors, not only 2D vector, the engineers use graphics tablet for CAD, 3D artist use it for 3D modeling and animation, they're vector format.
I just checked it.. and yes it has.. - Adobe Photoshop Elements - Corel - Evernote - Justwrite - nik Color By the way.. I use graphire 4 .. Thanks
Thank you for the input guys! I really appreciate it. I really wanted a wider work area (bigger one).
And glad that it's doing well with 3Ds and modeling, too. What about the size? Is it ok just to buy the small one?
I have a Genius MousePen 8x6, but I have the possibily to use Wacom (not mine) and I like Wacom more. However, Genius is not bad at all. I think I will buy a used Wacom on eBay.
The bigger it is the higher in resolution the artwork turns out. Then there's the obvious of the bigger they get the more features/accurate they are. It all depends on your budget and how much you plan on using it. No need to spend $500 on one if you're going to use it 2-3 times a month.
