Trying to Record an Interview

    Hi there,

I'm trying to record an interview via the phone.

I just bought myself an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder/MP3 Player, because the guy who was going to interview me recommended it.

Before I had a chance to ask him how he was going to record using that device, he disappeared.

Does anyone have any clue how I can record using that device since clearly it's not hooked up to the phone?

I need fairly good quality, but it doesn't have to be professional quality.

    Thanks

    Michelle

An induction coil microphone is probably the easiest and cheapest. You can probably still buy these at RadioShack. You stick one end on your phone, and plug the other into the mic input of your recording device.

Or, if you've got a half decent cell phone, it probably has call recording built in.

Also, read this for other ways to record phone calls :)

Michelle,to record phone interviews, I use an Olympus digital recorder along with the Olympus TP-7 Telephone Recording Device. This is available through Amazon for about $18. The device plugs into the mic jack of the recorder. You place an ear bud into your ear before putting the phone up to your ear. The device then records both sides of the conversation. This allows me to record from either land line phones or cell phones. This system is very easy to use and the sound quality is excellent.

    Thanks guys, much appreciated.

So that works on any Olympus?

Hmm, I just realized I don't use the handset part, I am always on a headset.

    So that's an issue, right?

I can use my cordlesses, but then the quality deteriorates from there.

I don't even have the cord to plug the handset back into the bottom.

I took it off years ago.
