I sell my product to this guy

    for 500$

He transferred money and i take money using xoom. But now paypal reverse money and my account is having negative balance.

They know my credit card number, address, etc.,

Will they book legal case against me ? (paypal) if i dont pay them back?

    I hate DP btw.

What has DP got to do with this? Maybe you can send them more info if that guy is a DP member.

Well unfortunately you just seem to be screwed here. You have to be very careful who you deal with on DP. Don't expect staff here to do much about it either even after the fact. Reality is that paypal is probably going to charge you the money and you are simply out $500.

    Good luck.

Yes PayPal have a case against you as you agreed to it when you opened the account - dont be silly and add legal fees for the debt recovery on top of the $500 you have already lost. I assume you did contest the transfer reversal?

Unfortunately this is all part of the risk of doing business online and whilst it is frustrating when it happens you need to make sure you build the cost of losses like this into your general pricing policy. Also an idea to license code to people so that if their money does go awol then you can just revoke the license for the code.

What I'm wondering is what exactly were you trying to sell for $500?

Close your paypal account (all transactions will be cancelled), and change credit card etc. :)

Call paypal, and try to get them to un-reverse the charges. I've done it before.
Prepare any logs you have showing you sent the files/products needed, and if you can get an e-mail from him admitting you sent it.

Agreed. It is commonly and widely known that DP staff have a Laissez Faire attitude about transactions that transpire here. And one could understand as well. They have no control over any payment processing business. Regardless of paypal, xoom, e-gold, moneybookers et cetera.

And to the OP. Sorry to know that you were scammed. But DP has tons of scammers trolling these boards. One can only read about them by the tons in many threads and posts here at DP

So be prepared and have enough knowledge and what not to protect yourself to the best of your ability. Know about chargebacks and how to get them reversed if possible. Keep copies of any emails, IMs, domain registar transactions et cetera for proof.

If he's an American fighter pilot then I'm Mary Poppins.
Do you really think a respected US service person would commit such a blatant scam and leave his details behind?

Do they go to war because they want to or decided to, or were they sent by the Government.

    Don't compare a war to a scam.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely only a fool would sell something worth $500 to a guy on a forum using a hotmail account and let them pay by Paypal.

Paypal will hunt you down, no doubt about it. Their manhunt team is probably better than that of the US governments, which in turn has taken years upon years to find and arrest or kill noticeably the most infamous human on this planet. Okay, maybe Paypal aren't that good, but after all, they still know where you live.
