What does these submenu items mean?

    Some big sites have submenu items in google search, what is this phenomenon called? and why and when does this happen?

    that is good question; i think there should be way to submit those menus in google.

    Are you reffering to site links? Those links has been considered as authority sites. You can have this links if you get the google trust.
