Heads up on http://msnsearch.srv.girafa.com/

I use this thumbnail service a lot & I'm now seeing it offline for the last 8 hours or so.

Anyone else experiencing this?

 

Yeah, noticed this earlier this morning. Wondering if it's temporary...

 

Im so glad to see this thread, i thought it was just me, same prob on all 4 of my directories.

 

I think I remember this happening once before, it was down for a while. The server is not responding, so maybe they are having issues.

That’s the problem with outside services, they can screw up you business big time. I try to do everything in house but it’s not always possible.

If not - who can suggest something as good as Girafa?

 

Same problem - I am sure they will work out the issues and get it working again.

 

The http://msnsearch.srv.girafa.com/ thumbnail images are for MSN only - you guys have been sponging off MSN basically. This is not a free service provided to you by MSN and Girafa.

As most of you are directory owners, why not take Girafa's free 2000 thumbnails a day option.

 

I've seen a directory or two using thumbnails from Snap.

 

The same problem here, Im using the girafa thumbnails in four directories, now I have signed up to the free package for two of the directories and Im waiting for the activation e-mail, in my other directories with more traffic, I will try with Snap and websnapr (Im not sure if the last is a free service..)

 

Switched over to another source of thumbs so mine are back up.

One nice touch on this free service is that, unlike msn/girafa, the capture works on deep links as well.

A bit slow but once cached you're OK.

 

I had the same problem with girafa. I've just switched to thumshots.org too. I've got thumbshots working on my directory.
