I have 4 websites, and 4 blogs. 3 wesbites I created around the 15th of October. 4th around 15th november. 4 Blogs a week or so ago. My total earnings are $14.56 since October 15th. Being married, with full time job etc, I have to make time (like most people here), but non of my sites really get any visitors. I have tried doing pretty much what people say. Last night, I was up till midnight creating 5 yahoo groups, although I don't even know how they work. someone just said do it. So what trait makes the best webmaster. Lots of talents. Lots of time available. Lots of luck. I seem to have neither. Check the poll and lets see.
Will go with time, from an economic point of view, it is essentially the lack of time that has prevented each and everyone of us from being who we want to be and get all that we want to get.
This time scale is nothing - it takes years of diligent hard work to be successful. One reasons why the majority of users on this forum are under 21 is that when you get to certain age you have responsibilities - family, work, other stuff. You just don't have the time to engage in the web slog.
I consider time the best because its a sure thing. unlike luck, its just by luck obviously, no assurance. Also for the talent, IMO, no one can do it best in a second, minute, hour, and day. obviously, talent also needs time...
I'd say hardwork, luck, time and timing. About talent. Well you do need some talent if you are designing or writing.
I don't believe in talent, I believe in hard work Time is important, you need time to make valuable experiences and time also needed for your websites to get matured, full contents, out of sandbox, have lot's inbound links and most importantly huge traffic Luck is important, because even if we are honest, somebody could click-bombed us and our valuable adsense will be banned in a blink of the eye
talent is something between inspiration, luck and work, all are very necessary, in history some were born to make great things...or small but work isn't everything, if you can have for example force but not wings to fly, i think this is the reality, all people work but few are rich... so isn't only the work or only the talent the measure
I'd say a little of everything. With time you get talent and with talent you tend to get lucky. But the base is hardwork
Talent, Talent & more TALENT, thats the basic thing you need HUNDREDS of people are free with loads of time. ARE THEY GOOD WEBMASTERS??
I'm "on call" 24-hours/day. Got to much going online these days, but I'm very confident in what's been going on. Sometimes I've got people msging me @ 6AM on MSN (the computers on 24hours/day) 20 times in a row. As for success, if I had to vote on ONE it would be talent. You need vision and creativity to think of an idea users might be interested in. Thinking outside the box is what this business is all about since SO many people copy others (1,000,000 mesothelioma blogs no longer make good money cause everyone and their mother have one--it's time to MOVE ON from this niche). Come up with something unique, market it, and sometimes hit it big.
I believe it is a combination of all three to make a good successful webmaster. You need to work, and you need the time to work on your site, and some luck does go a long way.
It depends on time. The more time you can put into your websites and know what to do when you have this time, will make your site grow = more visitors = more $$$. But on the other side of things, If you already have some money pay others to do the work for you, less time would be OK.
