I see one of mine already registered. 2 others aren't on the list. It's still possible to win at auction.

So I have checked the .asia registrars and they don't seem to post up a specific date.

I am sure one of you can tell me when registrations will become available.

    Thanks in Advance.

how does this auction thing work? so if i buy a domain and someone else comes along and buys it, i don't get it? howcome it doesn't speak of this anywhere in the godaddy website or policy

.asia it's going to be a big hit, and my suggestion is that if you are reach than only go for very popular names to pre register cause it's for sure very popular names will go to auction. so don't waste your time if you don't have much money instead think of something good, that can be worth a lot in future.

If you Pre-register now, before Feb08 theres no guarantee you can secure it for yourself but your getting your foot in, for some its giving them a better chance.

I think it differs between registrars, but its definately worth reading their small print to see what their charging for, i think someone said that godaddy doesn't refund on this service, but others do.

From what i learned from someone else is that say if you Pre-register the name above, and no one else did, then when the time comes it goes to you, and depending on who you used for the Pre-register they will charge you accordingly.

If you Pre-register and also someone else does on that name then it goes to the auction, and as you pre-registered it gives you chance to bid on it i think, obviously it would end up costing you more if you were prepared to bid, when it reaches that stage.

So if you dont pre-register then you have no opportunity to take part in the auction for any names that reach that stage.

You can always wait till Feb and hope that no one is interested in a name that you want, but if its very sought after then you can bet that its already registerd by then.

If ive misunderstood, please feel free to correct me anyone.

Mike & sodacrates, you can Pre-register at http://www.hostway.co.uk/ a guy here, from abroad has used them and told me about them, from what he said, you dont get your credit card charged just yet, not all are like that, godaddy for example will just charge your card straight away as far as i know.

Incase you dont know, and as far as im aware the pre-reg does not secure a domain for you, as in your not guaranteed to get it, and it may go to auction but at least your able to take part in the auction if it reached that stage.

But of course the domain may just go to you, after the pre-reg thing is over, then you get charged by this company.

This is all what i believe to be correct regarding this, if anyone can inform more please do.
