I have a good host thats Free with lots of space and no forced ads, but since it's free it's probably unreliable. I'm thinking about switching to GoDaddy hosting I guess. Will this hurt my google rankings or Adsense in any way? Will I have to re-submit my site to Google? I'll be using the same domain. thanksss
So re-submitting my site to google was a dumb question I suppose. I was just worried that my site would basically be "new" to the web again and start over. Idk Thank you
Nope it won't be new there is nothing wrong with switching hosts as long as you make it a seem less migration. That means uploading the content and putting the database on the new host before switching the name servers over.
No you shouldn't have any problems switching hosts, but if your switching domains make sure you 301 your domain.
depends on the downtime, but anyway, the problems switching may cause are temporary, then everything should get back to normal, make sure you choose the right new host, I've heart many people complain about Godaddy
o0o Well I wanted godaddy because of the price and stuff it comes with - The free Adwords credits, microsoft Adcenter etc. What was the problems you heard with Godaddy? Can you recommend a better hosting site that comes with adwords credit at no more than $3.59 a month?
It shouldn't influence your rankings... The only difference hosting may have with rankings (at leas for google) is if they are located in different countries. For example, google.co.uk will show before domains hosted in the uk than those hosted in the us... But if both hosting plans are located in the same place, you should see no difference. Regarding Hosting...I am not too keen on godaddy. I have never hosted with them but I have an account with some parked domains.... they have done things to me which I did not like... For hosting, I strongly reccomend you to get hostgator which should have a plan similar to that of godady & they are great and have a great service...
Switching hosts shouldn't be a problem, switching hosts and doing a redesign at the same time could be a problem. I did this recently - 5 sites moving to a new host, all running on new php templates (with way better semantic code) and two of the five got bumped to the second page in the SERPS even though their PR is still the same. I'm a little flustered by this as they were just starting to rock and roll. I was hoping that the dip was just temporary... it's been two months now and one of the two has dipped even lower, the other is holding steady. The joys of being at the mercy of the search engines. :|
If there isnt a big amount of downtime then i dont think you should need to worry about anything. Whocky
It can't hurt your Adsense. To avoid the downtime, just register a new hosting account, add the domain name and upload the files (the same files as on your current host) and then change the DNS of your domain to your new host. This way the downtime will be minimized, as if the domain fluctuates between the 2 hosts, the content is the same.
Switching to a different host does not hurt your rankings if done fast enough. The quicker you get the site up during the move, the less chance of losing rankings. I moved sites serveral times and never lost any rankings. Basic Instructions; 1. Buy new hosting account 2. Move all files/databases to new hosting account 3. Change the nameservers for your domain to new host's nameservers If you move the site in this specific order you will not lose google rankings, unless you are very slow about changing the nameservers.
