there are loads already preordered, i registered a real good one but i think it just goes into auction which means i wont get it as obviously there have been more applications for it and i just wasted $40

I'm betting it will be a winner. Have pre-ordered 4 .asia domains already.

if there is more than one person who put in an app for a name, it goes to auction- so just because you applied does not mean you will get it- especially if the other bidders have deeper pockets

At Godaddy it says: NOTE: All .ASIA registrations must include at least one contact who resides in one of the .ASIA countries.*

How does one go around that little issue?

I don't think there is a need for another TLD. The ccTLDs are getting bigger day by day. It will take at least 2-3 years to see some real TLD value for a new extension. And remember .asia is a 4 letter extension. But domains with very popular keywords are still valuable in virtually any extension, be it .asia or .com

I'm sure it will be a hit in a few years. It will take some time for the market to grow and settle down though. Of couse as said above, good keyword domains in any extension usually have some value.

I don't think it will become as popular as the .eu TLD but I am curious about some possible big .asia sales and the far future.
